How Demi Moore’s Look Has Changed Through the Years

In the 40 years that the legendary Demi Moore's career in entertainment has spanned (so far), she's easily become an icon. With unforgettable roles in movies like Ghost, G.I. Jane, and Indecent Proposal, it goes without saying that Demi's talent has changed the face of entertainment — and over the years, her face has changed as well.

Like many female celebs, 58-year-old Demi has been at the center of plastic surgery rumors that have ramped up even more lately after she looked so different at Paris Fashion Week she was practically unrecognizable when she hit the runway in January 2021. Is this a new look for Demi, or is this just how her look has been evolving over time?

Here's a look back at Demi's ever-changing looks, hair, and style. Regardless of the way her face has changed over the years, there's no arguing that this lady (and mom of three) is absolutely gorgeous, and we can't wait to see what the future holds for her.

Just Getting Started

In 1981, Demi was 19 years old, fresh on the scene in the entertainment world, and starting her first few roles. At the time, that included playing Jackie Templeton on General Hospital, her first recurring role after a few smaller gigs in the early '80s.

By 1985, Demi's career was really heating up — and so was her love life. She began dating her St. Elmo's Fire co-star, Emilio Estevez, and just six months later, they were engaged, though ultimately, their relationship didn't end up working out. She was in her early 20s at this point, and kept her face fresh. That skin!

Here, we're starting to see the beginnings of Demi's signature celebrity style coming together. She wore a lot of neutrals, oversized clothing, and quirky outfits, and she often went without makeup entirely. Considering how naturally gorgeous she is, we can't blame her!

Big Changes

By 1990, Demi had gone through a lot of changes — in her style, in her personal life, and in her career. She'd chopped off her hair, taken on a more glam look, and was starring in movies like Ghost, which ended up being huge for her. By this time, she was already married to Bruce Willis and had given birth to her first child, Rumer.

In 1995, the biggest thing that changed about Demi's style was this long hair and straight bang look, which definitely suited her face well. At this point, she was starring in Now and Then and The Scarlet Letter, while also having become mom to two more daughters, Scout and Tallulah.

Wait — is this the same Demi Moore with long hair and bangs in 1995?! Just three years later, she'd already switched up her look completely, with shorter hair that made her look much older and more sophisticated — and that's definitely not a bad thing!

Her Divorce From Bruce Willis

Though 2000 couldn't have been an easy year, because this was when Demi and Bruce made their divorce final, Demi never stopped smiling through it all. Beginning life as a single mom, she stuck with the casual look that had always served her so well, and she played Marie in Passion of the Mind.

My, how quickly things can change! Three years after her divorce, Demi and Ashton Kutcher were officially inseparable, marking a huge moment in pop culture, in which she was at the center. She'd also opted for long, stick straight hair and was frequently seen in her signature red lipstick.

In 2005, Demi and Ashton's love story continued, and they tied the knot. Meanwhile, she seemed to be fully embracing the star power she'd acquired, glamming it up for the cameras with soft curls. At this point, she was gearing up to star in the movies Bobby and Half Light.

Whoa — is it just us, or did 2010 Demi really hit her stride?! Here, she's posing at an event for CNN, and looking quite possibly the best she's ever looked in her little black dress. She's 48 years old here, but she doesn't look a day over 30. What is her secret?!

Quirky & Cool

Demi's not a regular mom — she's a cool mom. In 2012, she took a new style out for a spin, wearing oversized glasses and keeping that hair super long. Is that her actual hair, or is it extensions? Either way, we're seriously jealous. Yet again, she looks great.

Demi's style continued evolving in 2015, a couple of years after her 2013 divorce from Ashton Kutcher. She looks happy and confident, though her face does look a bit different, leading to speculation that she may have had a cosmetic procedure or two at the time.

Keeping It Classy

Demi's look continued to change well into 2019, when it was definitely more noticeable that there was something different about her face. Of course, actually getting older will do that to a person, but it seemed to be more than that, though she never confirmed anything. And that same year, she even told InStyle that she was trying to age gracefully as gravity did its thing.

Paris Fashion Week

Demi raised eyebrows once again at 2021 Fashion Week, appearing on the runway with a face that was practically unrecognizable. If we didn't know any better, we wouldn't have realized this was Demi, and these images definitely kicked the plastic surgery speculation into high gear.

Demi Moore Today

Demi shared this photo on Instagram about a month after fashion week, looking a bit more like herself, though it seems clear her face has gone through some changes lately. Is it makeup, filters, or plastic surgery? Unless Demi decides to tell all, we may never know.
