Jennifer Lopez is a lot of things: Singer, dancer, actress, fashion designer, skin care guru — the list goes on and on. But one of her biggest roles yet definitely has to be motherhood. As mom to twins Emme and Max, who turn 13 years old on February 22, she's experienced all the ups and downs of being a parent that many of us are so familiar with, all at the same time she was performing at the Super Bowl and breaking album sales records. No big deal or anything!
Max and Emme Muniz were born in 2008 to J.Lo and her then-husband, Marc Anthony. Though J.Lo and Marc have since split, they still co-parent their children. And as far as we can tell, they've done an awesome job raising these kiddos. They're so grown up these days, even though we can still remember looking at the photos of them as babies when they were first born!
Here's a look back at J.Lo's twins as they've grown, from the time they were babies to who they are now as they officially begin their teenage years. We cannot believe how quickly they're growing — and we know a certain celebrity mom probably feels the same way!
Baby Love
In 2020, Jennifer shared this photo of Max and Emme as babies — how sweet is this?! These two look absolutely adorable all cuddled up in their bassinet together, and as we know today, it looks like they've remained inseparable ever since. And can we please talk about J.Lo's entire new mom look? So in style for 2008, even though she'd just had kids.
Toddler Time
This snap of Jennifer with 2-year-old Emme was taken while the whole family (which, at the time, included Marc Anthony) was vacationing in France in 2010. Talk about a charmed childhood! Even as a toddler, it was clear that Emme was already starting to look like her mom — lucky girl.
Playing in Central Park
In 2011, Max and Emme were spotted playing in New York's Central Park. Around this time, they would have been 3 years old, and they both already looked so grown up! There's no doubt about it: they've both always had fabulous hair, which is no surprise considering who their parents are!
Beach Day
Look at these two 4-year-olds having fun in the sun! This pic was taken in August 2012 when the family was at Miami Beach. We can't get enough of Emme's adorable pink swimsuit! Here, they're still pretty little, but we were starting to get glimpses of the big kids they'd soon become.
Two Little Peas in a Pod
Speaking of beach trips — how adorable is this photo of Emme and Max together in the sand? J.Lo posted this as a throwback in 2016, but it would have been taken years earlier, right around the time they started school. Even just from this picture, it's easy to see they both already had big personalities.
Kisses From Max
In August 2014, the fam was, yet again, back at the beach (have we mentioned how we wish J.Lo was our mom, too?) and Max was all about the camera! Look at that smooch the now 6-year-old is giving in this pic! He's all attitude. Did he get that from his mama?
Celebrating Mother's Day
In May 2015, in honor of Mother's Day, Jennifer shared this selfie with her twins, who would have been 7 years old at the time. With her busy career, we know that couch snuggles are probably pretty rare for this celebrity mom, so we're sure she was soaking up every minute of it.
Turning 8
Jennifer shared this pic of her kids blowing out the candles on their birthday cake when they turned 8 years old in 2016, along with a sweet caption about how proud she was of both of them.
"You have brought me nothing but joy and happiness since the very second you were born," she wrote. "I am so proud of who you are and the beautiful loving caring people you are growing into."
Posing in Style
At the end of 2016, Jennifer shared this pic of her kids hanging out at her Las Vegas show, sitting together in the same chair. Of course, Emme and Max are in coordinating outfits, and they're both perfectly dressed for the occasion. That jacket on Emme, though!
All Smiles
Another Mother's Day, another selfie! In celebration of the day all about J.Lo (and other moms, duh), Emme and Max joined her for a smiley photo as she noted in the caption how proud and grateful she is to be their mom. That family resemblance, though!
Growing Up
Given that J.Lo is one of the biggest stars in the entire world, it's a given that her work takes her far from home from time to time, and she shared this side-by-side pic of her twins when she was missing them. In September 2017, when this was posted, they would have been about 9 years old. They already look so grown up!
Totally Twinning
In the caption of this photo from June 2018, J.Lo wrote, "My babies aren’t babies anymore … but they are still my babies." Yep, that's something all moms can relate to! When this photo was taken, Max and Emme were 10 years old — double digits! Not babies anymore, but they'll always be special to their mom.
Ringing in the New Year
This photo of Jennifer, Max, and Emme asleep on the couch together was her first Instagram post of 2019, and what better way to start a new year than cuddles with her kiddos?
"About last night … Perfect way to start the year … Love that they still wanna fall asleep in Mama’s arms," she wrote.
Backstage Hangs
By July of that year, Max and Emme were 11 years old and they were really enjoying the perks of having a famous mom. This snap was taken when they were hanging out with J.Lo backstage during her It's My Party tour. We're not saying we're jealous, but — we're jealous.
