Jackson Duggar Sparks Courtship Rumors After Quietly Joining Instagram

It’s been more than four years since the final episode of Counting On aired on TLC, so that means fans have to follow the Duggar family on social media to keep up with what they’re doing these days – or pick up on subtle hints others might have missed. For example, the fact that Jackson Duggar has joined Instagram is ringing quite a few alarm bells for fans who know that, for the Duggars, it’s almost never just about playing around with an app …

Jackson's first ever Instagram post appeared earlier this month.

The account doesn’t have a bio, and it only features one post (which doesn’t happen to have a caption) that was shared on November 8 — Jackson wearing a cowboy hat, posing at what appears to be a rodeo.

It seems like it’s legit, though, because his brother, James, commented on the photo.

Fans have already taken notice.

At least, the ones on Reddit have, anyway. Jackson’s account only has a few hundred followers so far, but many of them are members of the Duggar family, as one person on a popular Duggar-related subreddit pointed out in a post.

Immediately, fans pointed out that this could only mean one thing: Jackson must be courting.

Duggar siblings usually stay off of social media until they're ready to court.

Though there are some members of the Duggar fam who have chosen to get online before they’re in dating mode (like James), for the most part, we don’t see them joining Instagram until just before they announce that they’re courting. (In more recent times, they wait ’til they’re engaged to share that they’re in a new relationship.)

“I always figured Jackson for a young groom, so that’s my guess,” one person wrote.

Others think he joined for another reason.

As another fan pointed out, now that Jackson is 20, he may finally be old enough — in his parents’ eyes, at least — to be let loose on social media.

“Jinger talked about how he’s the first of the younger kids, which explained why his brothers like James and Jason got it before them,” one commenter wrote.

It's been a while since we've gotten an update on Jackson.

Three years ago, Jim Bob and Michelle posted about Jackson’s hunting skills on their family’s official Instagram account (though they haven’t posted there since 2022).

“Jackson got a nice buck on Saturday, the opening day of gun season here in Arkansas!” they wrote. “We’ve already enjoyed some of the meat from his harvest! Deer jerky is one of our favorites to make. Jackson is a good shot, and becoming a great cook, too!”
