It's been nearly seven years since Jamie Lynn Spears' oldest daughter, Maddie, was in a terrifying ATV accident, but her mom remembers the details like it was yesterday. During a new episode of I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here, the ITV reality show that Jamie Lynn is competing on this season, she emotionally shared that Maddie was "not alive" before first responders were able to get her pulse back after she drowned during the accident, along with her other memories of that day.

Jamie Lynn told her castmates about how she 'almost lost' her daughter.
Maddie, who was 8 years old at the time, had been driving an ATV around her family's property when she ended up in a pond, where she was trapped under the vehicle.
Though Jamie Lynn, husband Jamie Watson, and her in-laws all immediately jumped into the water to save her, the vehicle was very heavy.
"I could feel her arm, and I’m jerking it, I couldn’t get her up because it’s a pretty heavy machine. In that moment you think, you know logically she’s been underwater too long," she recalled.
At that point, Jamie Lynn was thinking, 'nobody can live if they’ve been underwater this long.'
Then, the family heard sirens, and help quickly arrived. [Maddie] was caught in the safety netting. So when they got there, she was not alive. They took her from me and they intubated her," she said.
At that point, the situation was so dire that her mother-in-law was calling Jamie Lynn's mom, Lynne Spears, saying, "we've lost Maddie."
Fortunately, firefighters confirmed that Maddie then had a pulse.
"They airlifted her. She’s hooked up on life support, breathing machines and all that … they come in, [bring] a priest to read her her last rites, and when they did, her body physically sat up," Jamie Lynn said. "Her spirit responded to it for whatever reason. She got better and better every day and walked out of the hospital. [She] has no repercussions. So that’s when I became Catholic. For about five minutes I thought I’d lost my daughter and then I was given the miracle of having her back."

Maddie still had a long road to recovery.
Even though she may have been out of the woods at that moment, Maddie spent two days on a ventilator at a children's hospital in New Orleans before she finally regained consciousness and wasn't able to go home until later that week.
"My biggest fear was she was going to die thinking her momma wasn’t trying to save her," Jamie Lynn admitted on the show.
Today, Maddie seems to be thriving.
Now, Maddie is a full-fledged teenager at 15 years old, as well as a big sister to Jamie's second daughter, 5-year-old Ivey.
Considering how traumatic this event must have been for the whole family, it makes sense that it still makes Jamie Lynn emotional.
