It’s official: Jana Duggar is now a mom. Last week, Jana announced that she and husband Stephen Wissmann welcomed their first child, a baby boy, into the world at the end of December, and now that they’re sharing the details, fans are surprisingly happy with the name that the couple chose for their little one. Stranger things have happened!
Jana shared the exciting news on January 23.
Sharing the first photos of her family of three — including a very alert (and adorable) baby boy, Jana made the big announcement on Instagram.
“We took some time to settle into our new rhythm before sharing this sweet news,” Jana wrote. “Archie Gerald Wissmann arrived on December 30, 2025, and our hearts have been completely changed. We’re soaking in these early days, full of love, wonder, and so much gratitude.”
The comments on her post were flooded with love for Jana and her little one, including plenty of messages from her sisters.
“Ah! He’s so cute! Can’t wait to meet him! Congratulations y’all!” Jana’s younger sister Jill wrote, while Jinger added, “Ahhh we love Archie so much already and can’t wait to meet him!!”
Fans were pleasantly surprised with the baby’s “normal” name.
In a post from a subreddit that can be pretty critical of Jana and her family, people were pretty happy that Jana chose a more “normal” name for her son than some of her siblings have (Spurgeon immediately comes to mind… sorry, Jessa).
Not everyone was as big on Archie’s full name — Archie Gerald — though Gerald seems to be a family name passed down from Stephen’s side of the family.
“The names aren’t awful separately. I don’t like the flow of the name itself, though. The -ch and the -g have such similar mouth structure it feels clumsy,” one critic wrote.
Jana also shared an update on her baby in honor of him passing the first month milestone.
When Archie turned one month old at the end of January, Jana quickly returned with another new photo of her baby boy, wrapped up in a green swaddle. He already looks like he’s grown so much from those first images!
“Can’t believe our little Archie is already a month old! We’ve been loving every cuddle!” she wrote.
