Jana Kramer Shares Heartbreaking Moment She Became the ‘Annoying Mom’ Now That Her Daughter Is Getting Older

Motherhood is an emotional roller coaster, especially when it comes to all of the milestones that happen as our children get older. There are some we can plan for, and then, there are the ones we don’t see coming. And as celebrity mom Jana Kramer learned recently, sometimes those moments are the ones that hurt the most.

On this week’s new episode of her Whine Down with Jana Kramer podcast, Jana shared what happened when she tried to be silly with her 9-year-old daughter Jolie recently. It went the opposite way than she expected. When her kids were sick, she tried to pretend she was a doctor instead of a mom as she checked on Jolie, but Jolie simply wasn’t having it.

“I was like, so what are your symptoms?’ And she’s like, ‘You know my symptoms,'” Jana said. “And I’m like, ‘But I don’t know your symptoms.’ I was like, ‘[What] are you feeling?’ I’m like, ‘I’ve got a Rolodex of supplements.’ Like, it’s a little turn thing. And she goes, ‘You’re so annoying.'”

After Jolie refused to buy into her mom’s game and realized that her mom felt “hurt,” she shot Jana an apologetic look.

“I was like, ‘No no no. It’s fine. Like, it’s fine. All good.’ And I came downstairs and I started crying. And I was like, what’s wrong? I was like, ‘I’m officially the annoying mom. And it sucks,” she said.

The good news? They were able to talk about it the next day, and it sounds like they both felt better afterward.

“The next day I said, ‘Hey. You know what, baby girl?’ I said, ‘It did actually hurt Mommy’s feelings when you called me annoying,'” she said. “I said, ‘I was just really just trying to have fun with you, baby girl.’ And she’s like, ‘I know, I’m sorry, Mom.'”

Jana definitely isn’t alone in this. In the comments on this clip from her podcast, many moms shared that they’ve felt the same way in similar moments with their preteens.

“My niece is 9 almost 10 and the preteen attitude runs strong in that child!!!” one of Jana’s followers wrote.

One commenter reassured her: “Yep! It hurts! But it’s something they go through! They change! It gets better!”

It’s not the most fun motherhood phase, but like all others, it will pass!
