Sure, Janelle Brown might not be interested in dating or marriage right now. However, that doesn’t mean she’s asexual. During the June 15 Sister Wives: One on One special, Janelle addressed rumors about her sexuality. The Sister Wives star, 56, explained that she’s “a very sexual” person even though she has said she’s not looking to date after her split from Kody Brown.
Janelle thinks the rumors are ‘wild.’
It’s pretty clear that Janelle doesn’t exactly love the rumors people have spread about her. During the episode, she asserted that the rumors that she is asexual are based on assumptions people have made and are not rooted in reality.
Janelle announced her separation from Kody in 2022. Since then, she has enjoyed being single. Meanwhile, Kody’s other ex-wives, Christine Brown and Meri Brown, started looking for love again shortly after leaving the plural marriage.
But according to Janelle, her disinterest in marriage should not be mistaken for asexuality. “Everybody has this idea just because I didn’t want to have assembly line kisses with Kody or whatever, that I was asexual,” Janelle told host Sukanya Krishnan. “It’s so wild to me that everybody has assumed.”
She ‘promises’ that she’s not asexual.
Although there’s certainly nothing wrong or shameful about identifying as asexual, Janelle insisted that she doesn’t identify that way. “I promise you,” she stated in the episode. “I’m not asexual.”
Janelle went on to explain that she’s actually “a very sexual being,” which makes being single a bit harder. Even though it’s a challenge for Janelle, it’s manageable. “The hormones are hell when you’re single, but you know, it’s like you just deal with it or whatever,” she said.
And even though she has said she’s not interested in marriage right now, she implied that might change someday. If she were to find love again, sex would likely play an important role in the relationship.
“I suspect that someday down the road, if there’s somebody else, then that will be part of it,” Janelle explained. “I’m a Taurus and I’m a very earthed Mama: Everything earthy, food, wine, sex—all of it.”
Previously, Janelle said she’s ‘over’ marriage at this point.
Janelle’s previous assertions that she doesn’t care about finding love again exacerbated the asexuality rumors, but really, it sounds like she is simply enjoying her life. “I’m not really interested in getting married again or even really dating at this stage,” she said previously. “So I’m not even thinking about, like, ‘Oh, what do I need to do?’ Because I’m just like, I am over [it].”
“I love my single life,” she added.
If things had happened differently, she might not have married Kody.
Looking back at her relationship with Kody, Janelle has wondered whether she would’ve married him if she had known him better. Janelle and Kody spiritually tied the knot in 1993, meaning they were together for about 30 years. Recently, Janelle recalled how Kody and Robyn “had a very long courtship compared to the rest of us.” If she had had the same amount of time, it’s possible she would never have entered the marriage.
“I might have seen him for a little bit more of who he was, you know what I mean?” Janelle said. “Gotten sort of off the charm ride.”
