What to Know
He might not be Donald Trump’s bestie or even his favorite right-hand man, but JD Vance did himself no favors when he stole Trump’s thunder on his 80th birthday. Well, maybe that isn’t totally accurate, but it’s the vibe some people are getting after Vance posted on X on Trump’s birthday about his wedding anniversary with wife Usha Vance.
Vance posted a shoutout to his wife for their anniversary on the same day that happens to be Trump’s birthday and the widely publicized UFC fight on the White House lawn. And people quickly called him out for stealing Trump’s spotlight with his post that had absolutely nothing to do with Trump or his birthday, er, his 250th anniversary of the United States, celebration.
JD Vance’s wedding anniversary happens to also be Donald Trump’s birthday.
Happy Anniversary to our lovely Second Lady. 12 years and almost 4 kids later, and we're still going strong. Love you Usha! pic.twitter.com/mT6IUdBirY

On Trump’s birthday, Vance posted a much younger photo of himself and Usha at one of their wedding ceremonies. In the post, Vance wrote, “Happy Anniversary to our lovely Second Lady. 12 years and almost 4 kids later, and we’re still going strong. Love you Usha!” And that’s all well and good. The issue is that it was on Trump’s birthday and some users on X trolled Vance by saying he took attention away from his own boss, a.k.a. The president of the United States. So, you know, no big deal or anything.
“So…y’all got married on Trump’s birthday? That’s a fun coincidence,” an X user wrote in the comments under the post.
Someone else commented, “Let me get straight: your anniversary and Trump’s birthday and national flag day and UFC 250 freedom all are on the same day? Oy vey.”
Others pointed out that Vance’s “almost four” mention of his and Usha’s yet-to-be-born baby is sort of contradictory to the far right’s stance on conception and even abortion.
“Almost 4? That’s harsh on the 4th one that you don’t consider him/her a full human,” one user commented.
Another person who is apparently a Vance supporter even pointed out that Vance and Usha have four kids, even if one is still “busy growing.”
He did wish Donald Trump a happy birthday on the same day.
Happy Birthday to the GOAT. Looking forward to celebrating later today at the UFC fight! pic.twitter.com/JOmUnrL8kr

About an hour after Vance posted about his anniversary on X, he made a separate post wishing Trump a happy birthday. In that post, Vance wrote, “Happy Birthday to the GOAT. Looking forward to celebrating later today at the UFC fight!” Yes, the same fight that was advertised as a way to celebrate the U.S.’s birthday and totally not Trump’s. No, not at all.
MAGA critics called out both Vance and Trump after Vance wished the president a happy birthday on X.
One user commented, “Fat guy who called Trump noxious and reprehensible a decade ago is now calling him the GOAT lmao.”
Another wrote, “Hahaha, the GOAT?? Dude, you’re so full of s–t. You were talking all kinds of trash about Trump a decade ago, before you sold your soul. What a f–king embarrassment you are to Corps and country.”
He might run for president in 2028 with his wife’s support.

For those who might be tired of Vance, despite the fact that he is the vice president and not the actual president, this might not be the last they’ve seen of him. Vance told CBS Sunday Morning that he and Usha will decide together if he runs for president for the 2028 election after Trump’s second term ends.
“Usha and I will absolutely sit down and talk about what comes next for our family,” Vance told the outlet. “The way I make decisions is, I try not to make them until I absolutely must.”
