The past few months have been tumultuous for Jenelle Evans’ 14-year-old son, Jace. The first-born kiddo of the former Teen Mom star ran away more than three times in the short time frame his mother gained custody of him.
Prior to this, Jace was living with his grandmother, Barbara — Jenelle’s mom — since he was very little, and that’s where he lived after Jace was removed from Jenelle’s custody again. But it sounds like he’s not quite settled back into his grandma’s home.
Reports say Jace ran away from home again, this time leaving Barbara’s house.
According to the U.S. Sun, Jace ran away from home for the fourth time since the summer, this time away from his grandmother’s home.
All other times Jace ran away have been when he was at his mom’s North Carolina home where she lives with her husband, David Eason, and their other kids.
The news outlet says Jace ran away on Friday.
Citing anonymous sources, the U.S. Sun reported that Jace went missing from his home with his grandma on Friday.
Police were called, and Jace was found about 9:30 p.m. Saturday. However, he wasn’t returned to his grandma’s house or his mom’s. Since he was found he’s been checked in to the hospital for his mental health.
It’s not clear why Jace ran away again.
“It's unclear why Jace ran away from his grandmother's house and where his next residence will be,” the news outlet reported.
Jace went to live with his grandmother again and he’s been there for about a month after previously living with his mom. The custody situation changed again when he accused Jenelle’s husband, David, of physically assaulting him. At that time, Jace was turned over to Child Protective Services and went back to live with Barbara.
About two hours after Jace went missing, David posted to social media with a cryptic message.
Per the U.S. Sun, David shared a post at 11 p.m. on Facebook.
It read: "Where's Waldo? Why is he already hiding and I haven't even opened the cereal box yet?”
Although it’s not confirmed David’s post was directed at Jace, fans and critics are assuming that to be what David’s intention was, and they weren't thrilled.
"Soooo hilarious……. making fun of a child's mental health is sooooo funny," one person wrote in the comments of David's Facebook post.
The source who spoke with the U.S. Sun alleges Jace has been upset at his mom.
“Apparently, some of his mother's social media posts had been upsetting Jace,” per the news outlet. “While at Barbara's, Jace was unable to get his proper medication because Jenelle had the power to deny access to some medication.”
The source continued, per the news outlet, saying that Jace was left without a therapist after they “were unwilling to work with Jace because they didn't want to deal with backlash from David and Jenelle – leaving him without a therapist.”
Should this be true, it makes sense that Jace would still be at the hospital. Hopefully he's getting the care and support he deserves.
