Nearly two years after Jennifer Lopez‘s divorce from Ben Affleck, it looks like she still can’t help but react when she hears his first name. While performing at one of the shows at her Las Vegas residency over the weekend, Jennifer brought a fan on stage only to find out that his name is Ben, just like her ex-husband, and she let the way she felt about that show all over her face.
The fan joined Jennifer and her backup dancers on stage.
During her performance, Jennifer invited a fan on stage, joking, “Look at this guy. We’re gonna take him for everything he’s got.”
It seemed to be going well for everyone involved until the fan made his way over to where J.Lo was standing, mic in hand, and asked him what his name is.
Jennifer’s reaction was too funny.
In a video that Deuxmoi shared on Instagram (after obtaining it from a concertgoer who was at J.Lo’s show that night), we can see the moment unfold after the singer finds out that the fan she invited on stage is named Ben.
Instantly, she made a disgusted expression and said, “Ugh.” But it wasn’t long before she was laughing, and of course, it seemed like she was just as kind to her fan as she would have been if he happened to have any other name. It’s not his fault he shares a first name with her ex!
Most fans laughed off the interaction in the comments of Deuxmoi’s post, but others took it a bit more seriously, calling Jennifer out for her reaction.
“Idk I think it’s pretty tacky that she does stuff like this, I guess it’s part of her show,” one person wrote. “She wouldn’t be laughing if the roles were reversed.”
Another added, “I’m a fan of JLo, but she needs to stop giving these interviews about being a suffering and abandoned woman. She’s inciting hatred from her fans towards Ben Affleck. That’s not cool. She knew who he was when she married him. And besides, the guy has children, and that’s not good for him or for her.”
Despite the big reaction, Jennifer has recently said she’s very happy leaving their marriage in her past.
During an interview on Good Morning America that aired earlier this month, Jennifer shared exactly how happy she is these days.
“I’ve gotten to the point where I really trust myself and appreciate myself a little bit more, instead of being so hard on myself and always trying to prove myself,” she said.
Adding that she took some time off of work to focus on herself during that time, J.Lo said, “I needed to be home with my kids, and that was the priority at that time. I just got to the point where I was like, ‘What is going on with you?’ Because I couldn’t blame anybody else, because I don’t think that’s where the lesson is. And so I really wanted to figure myself out.”
