Jennifer Lopez Files for Divorce From Ben Affleck Reportedly Without Ever Having a Prenup

This is a split that we've all seen coming over the past few months, but unfortunately, the rumors are true: Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are officially going their separate ways. On Tuesday, J.Lo filed for divorce from Ben after just two years of marriage. And now, more details are starting to come out about their split — including reports that the estranged couple never signed a prenup before they tied the knot in Las Vegas in 2022.

Jennifer filed on a significant day for the couple.

As TMZ, which was the first to report the news, pointed out, although J.Lo and Ben first got married legally in Las Vegas in July 2022, the day they threw a big wedding in Georgia where they celebrated with family and friends was August 20, 2022 — and Jennifer filed for divorce exactly two years later to the day.

She also filed pro per, or without a lawyer, and listed their date of separation as April 26, 2024.

It appears that Ben and J.Lo never signed a prenup.

After Jennifer didn't mention any type of prenup or settlement in her filing, a source close to the situation told TMZ that that they do not have one, which would mean any type of income either of them generated during their two-year marriage would become community property.

Jennifer has waived spousal support and is asking that Ben not be granted any himself.

Jennifer reportedly was 'done waiting' for the right time to file.

From what a source told People, it sounds like Jennifer is now ready to move on.

"She tried really hard to make things work and is heartbroken," the source said. "The kids are a top priority, as they always have been."

She's focusing on making a fresh start.

"She's very disappointed and sad, but Ben hasn't given her any signs that he wants to continue their marriage," a different insider added. "He hasn't shown any commitment and interest in making their marriage work. It's gotten to the point that she just needs to look out for herself."

it seems like Jennifer and Ben are on good enough terms.

Because the kids Ben shares with ex-wife Jennifer Garner and the twins Jennifer Lopez shares with ex-husband Marc Anthony are close, it's good to see that they're still spending time together — in fact, last week, J.Lo was photographed out and about with Ben's son, Samuel.

"The kids are a top priority, as they always have been," a source told People. "Just because she's not with Ben, doesn't mean that she doesn't care about his kids. She always cared about them."
