According to an Instagram fan account post, Jennifer Lopez was seen shopping with ex Ben Affleck‘s son, Samuel Affleck. Before you wonder why she’s even still spending time with Ben’s kids amid their split (because I was too), it looks like, because Jennifer and Ben’s kids are close, she has remained part of Ben’s kids’ lives after their split.
That’s all well and good, but now, Jennifer is getting heavily slammed over her choice of outfit while out shopping with the teen. According to the Instagram post, Jennifer took Samuel shopping at Balenciaga, as one does when they’re a millionaire, and then had lunch together.
The idea behind Jennifer putting in time with her former step-son is kind of adorable. For her critics, though, her outfit was not.

Jennifer Lopez’s outfit while shopping with Ben Affleck’s son drew some harsh criticism.
In the photos posted to the Instagram account, Jennifer is wearing a cropped sweatshirt, baggy linen pants, and heels. It may not sound like it goes together, but this is Jennifer Lopez. She gets a pass to essentially wear whatever she wants.
Well, in most situations. In this one, where she went shopping and had some bonding time with Ben’s teen son, people aren’t so forgiving.
One user commented on the Instagram post, “How inappropriate to wear that top! Does she not get it??”
Someone else, who wrote that Jennifer’s insecurities are showing with her outfit choice, added, “Ever hear of people trying to make their ex wish they hadn’t left? But why she feels the need to dress like this with a young boy is mind boggling.”
“I cannot see Jennifer Garner shopping with her kids like that,” another user wrote in the comment section. “The parents allow their son [to be] shown shopping with JLo and seen in public. Well, JLo is very rich. She can afford what she wants to buy for Affleck’s kids. But Ben and JG can afford too, they just don’t want to show off just my opinion.”
Other users commented on the Instagram post to claim that Jennifer’s appearance was all part of a product partnership and for press. Someone agreed with this when they commented, “Do you really have to put such a show on when you’re out shopping with the kids? I mean it’s completely staged, her outfit, her styling, the photos, nothing there is a coincidence. Does everything in her life need to be a PR stunt?”
Jennifer has two kids from her relationship with Marc Anthony, twins Emme Maribel Muniz and Maximilian “Max” David Muñiz. Ben has three kids, Fin, Violet, Fin Affleck, with his ex, Jennifer Garner.
Following Ben’s split from Jennider Lopez (not to be confused with ex-wifey number one, thank you very much), their kids remained close, according to People.
The outlet reported that the former couple’s kids are still close, and they even share friends, so it has felt natural for them to all remain close despite their parents breaking up.
According to an alleged source who spoke to People, Jennifer Lopez and Ben are also on good terms. That would explain her shopping trip with Samuel.
But does it explain her over-the-top outfit? Not really. However, in this case, you can’t really expect anything less from JLo herself.
