Jeremy Renner Shares a Selfie as He Recovers From Accident Involving 7-Ton Snowplow

Fans of Avengers star Jeremy Renner have been waiting with bated breath for an update on the actor's status after he was involved in a terrifying snowplowing accident a few days ago. The 51-year-old was airlifted to a nearby hospital on New Year's Day, and now he's finally able to give a solemn update on social media to his concerned fans.

Jeremy shared a selfie with his 18.9 million Instagram followers.

A bruised but conscious Jeremy posted a photo on Tuesday, reassuring fans that he was on the road to recovery.

"Thank you all for your kind words," he captioned the photo of himself in a hospital bed. "I'm too messed up now to type. But I send love to you all."

Relieved friends and followers sent more love in the comments.

Some of Jeremy's fellow Avengers wrote messages of love and support for the actor.

"Tough as nails," wrote Captain America star Chris Evans. "Love you buddy."

Jimmy Fallon, Chris Pratt, and Chris Hemsworth also offered up words of encouragement. As of Wednesday afternoon, the post had more than 5.8 million likes, showing just how worried Jeremy's fanbase had been.

It appears Jeremy is lucky to even be alive.

According to Page Six, local authorities have released a few more details about the accident. Washoe County Sheriff Darin Balaam told the media that Jeremy had been "run over" by an "extremely large piece of snow removal equipment" that weighed about 14,330 pounds.

That means Jeremy was stuck under more than seven tons of machinery.

The sheriff went on to explain that the PistenBully Jeremy had been using to clear a path for himself and his neighbors after a massive snowstorm had gotten stuck. Jeremy had worked to "retrieve" the machine and was successful until it "started to roll" before he was able to get back inside it.

"In an effort to stop the rolling PistenBully, Mr. Renner attempt[ed] to get back into the driver's seat of the PistenBully. Based on our investigation, it's at this point that Mr. Renner [was] run over."

We're wishing Jeremy a full and speedy recovery.

Luckily, Jeremy's neighbor happened to be a doctor, and he was able to administer lifesaving care until medical personnel arrived. We shudder to think about what the outcome could've been if Jeremy's injuries had been left until help could arrive.

Hopefully Jeremy is feeling well enough to give fans another update soon!
