On Sunday, social media was flooded with posts from people celebrating the moms in their lives in honor of Mother’s Day. One of those posts was shared by Jeremy Vuolo, acknowledging the love that wife Jinger Duggar pours into their three children. But after seeing the photo he chose to share, critics simply aren’t impressed with his tribute, and some are even going so far as to label him a “narcissist.”
Jeremy shared his message for Jinger on Instagram.
Alongside a photo of Jeremy and Jinger dressed in coordinating all-black outfits, holding hands as they walked down a city street together, he wrote, “Happy Mother’s Day, Amazing Lady.”
He continued his caption with a line from Proverbs 31:29: “Many women have done excellently, but you surpass them all.”
Jeremy’s choice of photo was a unique one, because many Mother’s Day tributes typically focus on just the mama or include images of the mom and their kids. Instead, he posted a picture of the two of them together, and the post has so many people raising their eyebrows.
Critics believed Jeremy stole too much of the focus for himself.
In a Reddit post titled “if there was ever any doubt … he’s a narcissist,” critics weighed in on Jeremy’s tribute.
“This being a Mother’s Day post honestly seems like parody it’s so ridiculous. He’s such an unlikeable douche,” one commenter wrote.
Another person added, “Apart from everything else, he’s in the center of the picture and she’s literally sidelined.”
Others pointed out that this could be a sign of history repeating itself, with one person writing, “He’s always been ‘supportive’ when it’s in his best interest to do so, which includes his public image. This is the modernized version of exactly what her parents did, just hidden under a new shimmer. I guess it’s hard to see the truth when you’re in it though.”
Others actually thought the post was sweet.
As far as the fans who follow Jeremy on Instagram are concerned, this post was perfect for Mother’s Day. It’s all positivity over there – including plenty of compliments on how glam the couple looks in the photo.
“They look like Hollywood stars with payed photographers and all. Love this pic!” read one comment, while another added, “Super kind and supportive post from the hubby! Jinger deserves it all!”
Meanwhile, Jinger took the opportunity to celebrate her mom.
On Mother’s Day, Jinger shared a sweet video tribute to mom Michelle Duggar on her own Instagram account, including plenty of photos of the mother/daughter duo over the years.
In her caption, Jinger called Michelle her “hero and my very first best friend.”
“I still remember the way you’d stay up with me when I was sick, or how you always prayed with me when I felt fearful,” she wrote. “Even now, when I don’t know how to do this parenting thing and need advice, you’re always there – steady, wise, and full of grace. There are no words deep enough to capture how much I love you – but please know, it’s more than you’ll ever know, and more than I could ever say.”
