Jessa Duggar Called Out for Her ‘Safety’ Measures While Using Power Tools

To some followers of the Duggar family, Jessa Blessa, a.k.a. Jessa Duggar, can do no wrong. From improper car seat installations to using power tools with nary a safety concern in sight, she seems to post on social media about all of her exploits and, for the most part, her followers eat it up as hashtag relatable.

But when she posted about using a power drill and used something that is so far from an actual step stool, Reddit came for her. You see, Reddit knows no bounds when it comes to the Duggars, and users readily read her to filth for the seriously unsafe act, and around her kids no less. It was a whole thing.

She stood on a tricycle while using a drill.

Jessa’s video, which was originally posted to her Instagram account, shows her being a strong independent woman (well, as independent as a Duggar daughter can get) by using a power tool to do a DIY home project. But, while trying to reach a high spot on the wall, she uses a metal tricycle to stand on. Yes, a tricycle with multiple wheels perfect for rolling her to her room.

Luckily for Jessa, she comes out unscathed, but it could have been much worse. And people on Reddit were quick to call her out for failing to practice safety not only for herself, but in front of her children. She even wrote on the screen, “Glad I survived the wheeled step stool.” I mean, I guess narrowly escaping a head injury is the relatable mom content she is going for, but still.

“Congratulations, that’s a good way to get a skull fracture,” someone wrote on Reddit.

Another person commented, “Maybe the girl is just trying to spend some time alone. I guess a hospital would work?” Not gonna lie, they had me in the first half.

When someone else wrote that they too have used non-step stool objects as stools before, a Redditor replied, “Same. But I don’t set up my camera first. The most I might do is tell my son to look the other way or go ask my wife a question that I already know the answer to.”

Jessa has surprisingly few injuries in her family.

To date, there are far less injuries that Jessa and her kids have had in relation to unsafe practices in the family’s home. Well, that we know of, anyway. One user in the Reddit post suggested it’s because the family keeps any kid-related accidents hush hush until enough time has passed that they can joke about it afterwards.

Of course, that’s just speculation, but Jessa and her husband Ben Seewald have six children. There had to have been some potentially avoidable accidents that have happened over the years that people just don’t know about.

Still, one Redditor commented on the thread, “Many before me have said it, it’s literally insane how few injuries exist in this family with how reckless they are. What the hell? This group of people just like to play with their own lives.”

She was called out once for carseat safety too.

The tricycle foot stool isn’t the first instance of Jessa being less than safe and, honestly, it probably won’t be the last. But some of those who follow her out of curiosity rather than support might remember when she was called out for unsafe car seat practices. In 2025, she shared a video on social media which viewers noted included Jessa’s oldest son Spurgeon Seewald was not in a proper booster seat with seat belt, and her son Henry Seewald was allegedly not in a car seat or booster at all.

So the tricycle issue is sort of small in scale. Though to be fair, it’s one of many instances where Jessa threw caution to the wind and filmed herself doing something totally unsafe.
