Critics Accuse Jessa Duggar of Trying To ‘Steal Jinger’s Spotlight’

The Duggar family is used to a certain level of spotlight since its members grew up sharing their lives on a reality television show. Although they’ve been off the air now for several years, the level of attention certainly hasn’t dwindled at all, with some members of the family under more scrutiny than others.

With Jinger Duggar’s book officially released, she’s getting more attention, and fans and critics are closely watching how her siblings are reacting.

Some people believe Jinger’s sister, Jessa, is wanting some of that attention.

Jessa shared a video February 2 to her social channels discussing homeschooling her two kids, 7-year-old Spurgeon and 5-year-old Henry.

The video had nothing to do with all the drama surrounding her parents and siblings.

That didn’t go unnoticed by Duggar fans, and it didn’t sit right with them.

Jessa’s younger sister, Jinger, has been on the press circuit promoting her new book, Becoming Free Indeed, and a few of her family members have offered her public support.

But not Jessa. Despite the two being really close, according to reports, the lack of any acknowledgment has been noticed.

So fans called out Jessa on her video, wondering why she’s not publicly said anything about the memoir.

“If you ditched your sister because of the truth, you don’t deserve anyone’s support,” one critic wrote on her Instagram video.

“Stand by your sister,” another person wrote.

There was some support in her comment section too, with someone replying, “Just because she chooses not to be as public doesn’t mean she doesn’t. She is closest to Jinger and likes everything she posts. It’s not your place to tell anyone to speak up.”

Some people, however, think the lack of saying anything is on purpose — and so was posting that video.

On a popular Reddit thread that discusses the Duggar family, people there believed that Jessa’s video having nothing to do with Jinger while she keeps her silence about the book was on purpose. They say Jessa wants the spotlight herself.

“Has jessa acknowledged jingers book yet?” one person asked. “Genuinely curious.”

“Jessa can't let Jinger have the spotlight,” another critic wrote.

Jinger has had support of some of her siblings since the release of her book.

Although it doesn’t appear Jessa is open to sharing how she feels about her sister’s book, their older sister Jill has made it know that she’s supporting Jinger.

“Proud of you (and Jer as I’m sure you continue to support each other) as you have processed so much I’m sure and yet continued to cling to each other and Jesus!” Jill wrote in the comments section of one of Jinger’s post.

“Walking ‘the straight and narrow’ as God leads you is harder than walking completely one way or another!”
