Jessa Duggar Lashes Out at Fans Who Call Mom Michelle Duggar a ‘Terrible Mother’

After growing up on reality TV and now raising families of their own in the public eye, the Duggar daughters are used to being criticized online for their parenting choices. But apparently when it comes to their own mom, Michelle Duggar, they aren't willing to mess around. After one fan called Michelle a "terrible example" of a mother on Facebook, Jessa immediately hit back in defense of her mom.

It started with a post Jessa made on Mother's Day.

Jessa shared a photo of her five children — Spurgeon, Henry, Ivy, Fern, and George — posing together on a blanket in what looks like her backyard.

"Feeling blessed beyond measure this Mother’s Day! So thankful for the beautiful examples of motherhood in my own mother and mother-in-law," she wrote.

Some of the comments on the post were pretty negative.

Although most people took the opportunity to wish Jessa a happy Mother's Day and gush about how cute her kids are, others took issue with the way she called her mom a "beautiful example" of a mother in her caption.

Even though some of the negative comments have been deleted, The Ashley's Reality Roundup reported that one person wrote, "Didn’t your mom harbor a child molester? Not exactly a shining example."

"She was a baby machine, not a mother," another commenter wrote.

Jessa chose to respond to one comment in particular.

One person wrote, "Your mother was a terrible example."

Jessa replied, "She is the godliest woman I know. I’ve never met a more patient, gentle or genuinely loving human being. I love her more than any other woman I know and I only hope I can be half the mother to my own kids as she was to me."

This isn't the only controversy Jessa has had to handle this week.

Michelle has also come under fire for enlisting her oldest daughters to help her raise her younger children when the whole family was still living under the same roof — something they called the "buddy system."

Fans were worried that Jessa is doing the same after they saw a video of Ivy, who turns 5 later this month, babywearing her little brother, George, that she posted on Instagram, even though Jessa has said she has no plans to use the buddy system with her own kids.

"I hope your sons are encouraged to 'love on their younger siblings' in exactly this way too," one commenter wrote.

Through it all, Jessa has remained close to her mom.

As she raises her own kids, it appears Jessa has continued to lean on Michelle, even though some of her other siblings have distanced themselves from the family as they've gotten older.

We can't fault her for defending Michelle, even if some of her parenting methods have been questionable — especially on Mother's Day.
