Jessica Simpson Says She Has a Big Dating Deal-Breaker After Split From Eric Johnson

Jessica Simpson is single again for the first time in over a decade after her split from Eric Johnson, but this time, she has a better idea of what she’s looking for in a partner. When Jessica appeared on the Today show on Wednesday morning, she revealed her one dating deal-breaker, and there’s a good chance that she shares this preference with a lot of other people looking for love.

Nearly seven months after Jessica and Eric made the news of their divorce public, Jessica told host Jenna Bush Hager that she feels ready to start dating again … even though she did admit that she’s “slightly terrified” to get back out there.

She might be a bit rusty when it comes to navigating the dating pool, but she does know exactly what she wants, which should make her hunt a bit easier.

“My type of person is a one-of-a-kind,” Jessica told Jenna. “I don’t have like, a look or anything like that. I just like for somebody to be individually who they are and exude confidence without the ego.”

Even if that kind of person might be hard to find, Jessica isn’t willing to settle, and she’s keeping the faith that he’s out there.

She told Jenna, “I don’t need somebody to be supportive of me all the time. I feel like the independence I have right now, if I can have that and give it to someone else, that would be cool.”

And even though she may have to be a little flexible when it comes to her future partner, she’s absolutely not willing to be with a bad kisser — “even if it’s just one night.”

“It has to be a very good kisser,” Jessica said. “See, that’s like the most intimate thing. Grab my face and pull me in! Can you tell I need it?”

Is that her way of telling the world that was something lacking in her marriage to Eric? Hmm …

The former couple split earlier this year after more than 10 years of marriage and three children together.

“Eric and I have been living separately navigating a painful situation in our marriage,” Jessica said in a statement issued to People on January 14. “Our children come first, and we are focusing on what is best for them. We are grateful for all of the love and support that has been coming our way, and appreciate privacy right now as we work through this as a family.”
