Jessica Simpson’s birthday post for mom Tina has left some fans feeling confused. On January 18, 44-year-old Jessica Simpson took to Instagram to wish her mom a happy birthday. “Happy Birthday to my Mommy – the giver of abundance, love, passion, and purpose,” Jessica captioned a photo in which she posed beside her mom. At the end of the caption, she added, “I love to love you, make you proud, hug you and work alongside you each and every day for eternity! Thank you for making me a priority and for always giving me the no matter what kind of love!”

Some fans didn’t recognize Jessica’s mom.
Reacting to the sweet birthday message, some fans noted that they hardly recognized Jessica’s mom, who just turned 65.
“Is your mom in the room with us? Who is this?” one person commented on the post. “Who is that?” another fan wrote. “Does not look like her mom.” A third fan reacted in complete disbelief, writing, “That not your mom no way.”
Although some fans noticed that she “does not look like she used to at all,” others couldn’t even believe that the person in the photo was really Jessica’s mom. “Huh? Is her mom taking the picture?” a fan commented on the post. “That’s NOT the way I remember her mom looking at all…” another person wrote.
Jessica’s appearance has also surprised fans.
The comments about Jessica’s mom come just a month after fans criticized Jessica’s new look. On December 16, 2024, Jessica shared a photo that showed her in the recording studio to tease her new music. Though many fans seemed eager to listen to her new music, others focused more on how they couldn’t even recognize Jessica. “What has she done to herself?” one person commented on the post at the time. “This doesn’t even look like her.”

Reacting to the recent birthday post, some people accused Jessica of using ChatGPT to write it.
The photo of Jessica and her mom, Tina, garnered a lot of attention – but so did Jessica’s Instagram caption. “Your light is the brightest of all – assembled by the multitudes of your individual blessings that create iridescent and unique sparks!” the caption read in part. “Not only does your glow make you shine, but there is an honesty within your heart that gives truth to divine ambition and a courageous certainty that represents how passion can lead to unparalleled greatness.”
Confused by the “word salad,” some people wondered if Jessica used ChatGPT to write at least part of the caption. “Did you write this whole caption or did you use a little ChatGPT?” one fan commented. “What in the ChatGPT is going on?” a second fan questioned.
A third fan said the caption “reminded me of when Joey from Friends, used a thesaurus to write his wedding speech at Monica and Chandler’s wedding!”
Jessica wrote that she is ‘so lucky to be something and someone you believe in.’
Elsewhere in the caption, Jessica wrote, “When there is responsibility, commitment, determination, and integrity required YOU ARE THE GOAT💛 every single sunrise and sunset and especially on a full moon there’s nobody in this world I’d rather be loved by than you.”
After months of divorce rumors, Jessica recently confirmed that she and her husband have separated.
In a statement published by People on January 13, Jessica said she and her husband Eric Johnson “have been living separately navigating a painful situation in our marriage.” After the news broke, a source told Page Six that Jessica’s new look could’ve played a role in the separation.
“She suddenly felt 21 again – except when she was 21 for real, she was a married TV star who had to behave,” the source told the news outlet, while also acknowledging Eric has “checked out” of the relationship.
