Jill Duggar Reveals She Hasn’t Seen Dad Jim Bob Duggar in More Than a Year

After dropping all those bombshells about her parents and her very conservative upbringing, Jill Duggar is opening up about where her relationship with Jim Bob and Michelle stands today. And at this point, it sounds like things are still pretty strained. In fact, in a new podcast interview, Jill admitted she hasn't seen her dad in more than a year, and it's not clear if that's going to change any time soon. How do they begin rebuilding their relationship after everything that's happened?

Jill is opening up about her relationship with her parents.

When Jill and husband Derick Dillard appeared on the Unplanned podcast this week, she admitted that the last time she saw Jim Bob was "more than a year ago."

They couldn't even remember the exact last time they'd seen him — Derick thought it was when their son, Freddy, was born in the summer of 2022, while Jill thought they'd seen him in passing at a wedding or similar event.

She does know that her parents read her book, though.

"I’ve heard that they did," she said. "I heard they listened to it on audiobook or something. I don’t know … They’re my parents and I’m gonna tread lightly."

Can't blame her for that, especially after knowing how tenuous her relationship with Jim Bob and Michelle (and even some of her siblings) has been for years.

If her parents want to talk about the book, they'll have to bring it up.

Jill's worried that if she talks about her book, she'll "create more controversy."

"It’s kind of like when you get together at the holidays, and there are just certain things that you don’t just want to bring up. It’s probably a sore subject," she said.

She's not sure what the future of their relationship will be.

She predicted that her mom would want them to all sit down and "hash it out" with a therapist, but at this point, Jill doesn't seem too keen on that idea.

"We tried that before. It just is not the healthiest way to go about it. So we’re still on the road to figuring things out," she said on the podcast.

It's been a long road for Jill.

After everything she shared in her memoir about her dad — from the legal battle that ensued to make sure she was paid what she was owed from filming the family's reality shows to the comments he made about her reproductive health — it's truly no wonder she's kept her distance.

Maybe these relationships can be repaired in the future, but until then, it sounds like Jill truly has found peace with her current situation.
