At the height of 19 Kids & Counting and Counting On‘s popularity, Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar were everywhere, especially if you were regularly tuned into any show that aired on TLC. These days, they’ve been keeping a pretty low profile after their sons continue to bring massive shame upon their family, but they recently stepped out in public for a snack. They may regret this outing if they find out what people are saying about them online, though.

In a photo that was shared on Reddit, Jim Bob and Michelle can be seen walking out of a combination Cinnabon and Auntie Anne’s Pretzels store with two small blonde children (who appear to be John and Abbie’s oldest two, Grace and Charlie). According to the OP, the photo was taken at a viewing spot for fireworks in Branson, Missouri.
It seems like this might have just been a grandparents/grandkids outing, because the person who spotted them said they didn’t see any other Duggar family members that day.
According to Redditors, these two really look like they’re going through it.
From calling Michelle out for her orange-toned spray tan to mocking the way Jim Bob appears to be walking out of that store, there is no shortage of insults about these two in the comments of that Reddit post.
“I don’t think I’d be able to keep my composure if I saw those two in public,” one person wrote. “I’d have to leave to stop myself from being arrested. Normally I’m not like that. They disgust me so much and seeing Michelle’s smug smile would set me off. I don’t know how they can walk around in public and not be ashamed of what they raised.”
Another person wondered what it’s really like for them to be out and about like this, writing, “I wonder if they get a lot of public attention when they go out. It seems like a few people recognize them and are staring in pic 2.”
This is the first time they’ve been seen in a while.
Michelle and Jim Bob slowly started fading from public view after their oldest son, Josh, was convicted to more than a decade behind bars, and in the years since, they’ve become increasingly hard to spot in public (outside of one of the many family weddings that have taken place, of course).
Now that another one of their sons, Joseph, has been accused of molesting a minor girl, it doesn’t seem like that’s going to change anytime soon as the situation continues to play out in court.
“Jim Bob and Michelle are heartbroken over this entire situation,” their rep said in a statement following Joseph’s arrest in March, via USA Today. “Right now, they are focused on loving their family and helping Kendra and her children during this difficult time. They are praying for the victim. They ask for privacy and appreciate the kind words and prayers offered by so many.”
