Jinger Duggar Says Michelle Went Full ‘Mama Bear’ When Hospital Security Kicked Her Out of Labor & Delivery

Michelle Duggar always seemed like the sweetest, most soft-spoken person during her time on Counting On, but apparently, that all changes when it comes to fighting for her kids. During a new episode of Jinger Duggar and Jeremy Vuolo‘s podcast, Jinger said that Michelle went into “mama bear” mode when she wasn’t able to join her in labor and delivery at the hospital, and she got so mad she almost thought her mom was about to be “hauled” away!

The stressful moment took place when Jinger’s second child, Evangeline, was born.

On the new episode of The Jinger & Jeremy Podcast, the couple was telling the story of their new baby son Finnegan’s birth, which Michelle was there for, when they looked back on the birth Michelle had to miss: Evangeline’s in November 2020.

At the time, the COVID-19 pandemic (and lack of a vaccine) meant hospitals had made their visitor policies much more strict, and unfortunately, Michelle wasn’t able to walk Jinger back to the labor and delivery unit while Jeremy parked the car. This meant Jinger would have to go alone, leading her mom to be more “fired up” than she’d ever seen her.

Michelle was not messing around.

“She goes into Mama Bear mode,” Jinger recalled. “She is the sweetest, most kind, gracious woman you will ever meet. But when they told her that she could not walk me to labor and delivery, that I had to walk by myself, then she was like ‘Let me go back there! Let me go back there!‘”

Jinger continued, “I was afraid they were gonna haul her out because here she is, wanting to help me, but they were probably about to push her out of the hospital like, ‘You have to leave, ma’am. We’re going to bring security to bring you out.’”

Michelle told the hospital workers, “Please, my little girl is having a baby. Don’t make her walk by herself.” But in the end, it was no use – Jinger had to welcome Evangeline with only Jeremy by her side like so many other new moms in 2020 and 2021.

Critics have mixed opinions on the situation.

This is the full story about Meech’s “freakout” at the hospital (spoiler: it’s not nearly as dramatic as the written version makes it out to be)

While discussing the story on Reddit, some people totally understood where Michelle was coming from.

“I can also understand why Michelle was frustrated because though she has a million kids I do truly think she cares for them. To see your baby in pain (even if they’re pushing 30) is hard,” one person wrote. “No matter what you want to try to protect and soothe your baby. Obviously Michelle couldn’t take labor pains away. But she could at least be a shoulder for Jinger to lean on.”

Others were a bit more critical.

“My son was running a Covid ICU. People like them just made his life harder and I had to try to not think about him dealing with a scary, as yet unknown, disease,” someone else commented.
