15 Ways Jinger Duggar Is More Worldly Than the Rest of Her Famous Family

It's been five years since Jinger Duggar married Jeremy Vuolo, and in that time, a lot has changed. We've seen the former Counting On star come into her own as a wife and mother — and separate from those titles, more importantly, as her own person. And who that person is turns out to be a lot different from who her parents are — and who she was when she was still living in Arkansas inside the Duggar fold.

Though the idea of being "worldly" and engaging in mainstream culture is something that is frowned upon in the Duggars' religion, it's something that Jinger seems to have embraced over the last few years, whether she realizes it or not. And in the time since she and Jeremy made the big move to Los Angeles, she's really opened up to change and new perspectives in a big way.

Here are all the ways Jinger is more worldly than the rest of her family (though it seems that her sister Jill might not be too far behind these days). She seems a whole lot happier this way, and that's what matters most.

She Dresses Up for Halloween

The Duggars don't celebrate Halloween, but Jinger broke that mold in 2021 when she and Jeremy shared photos of the both of them — and daughters Felicity and Evangeline — all dressed up as Winnie the Pooh characters for a party. This might be the biggest departure from Duggar culture of all.

She Wears Whatever She Wants

As fans of 19 Kids & Counting and Counting On well know, the Duggar women are expected to dress modestly — at least while they're living under parents Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar's roof. But while Jinger once only wore skirts and long sleeves, she now wears anything, including short shorts like these, and she seems to adore fashion.

She Goes to the Salon

The Duggars have long preached that they cut one another's hair at home, and many of the sisters made it to adulthood without ever having colored their hair. But after Jinger's move to LA, she started regularly visiting the salon, getting shorter cuts and even some balayage to keep her locks looking sharp.

She Throws Her Kids Birthday Parties

In the Duggar house, most of the birthdays are celebrated among family with a low-key party at home and sometimes with a dinner out with Michelle and Jim Bob. But Jinger takes it to the next level. She threw Felicity a unicorn-themed birthday party when she turned 3, complete with a sprinkler.

She's a Working Mom

Jinger doesn't have a job in a traditional sense, but she is working more than many of the other ladies in her family. Between her podcast, writing a memoir, and now adding a children's book to the list, Jinger is building her own career.

She's a Foodie

Jinger seems to truly love finding new spots in LA to eat, and she appears to be a bit more adventurous in the food department than her parents are (tater tot casserole, anyone?). Spending time in restaurants is way more important to her — not that we can blame her. It's fun!

She Cares About Her Public Image

For as long as we can remember, the Duggars have been public figures, but Jinger has taken a totally different approach to the gig. She seems to be the one most interested in curating her public image, making sure that people see her exactly how she wants to be seen on social media (including plenty of polished, professional photos).

She Drops Major Cash on Clothes

Who could forget the episode of Counting On where Jana was visiting Jinger, they went shopping, and she casually decided to purchase a $300 blazer from one of the boutiques they were browsing? Jana was taken aback because that kind of thing simply doesn't happen in the home they grew up in.

She & Jeremy Are Always Out on Dates

Jinger and Jeremy seem to really enjoy taking time away from their kids to be alone together, and they have regular one-on-one date nights because of it. Nights out, shopping, going out to dinner, getting that quality time in … Jinger's all about it.

That LA Lifestyle

We can't see Jim Bob and Michelle bringing their kids up in a big, flashy city like LA, but Jinger fits right in — and so does Jeremy. Everything about her lifestyle there is different from the way it was at home, but she definitely seems to like it that way.

Her Kids' Wardrobes

We haven't seen much of Evangeline, but we know that Felicity wears the best of everything, including tiny Nike sneakers! The Duggars were all about "buy used, save the difference," but Jinger doesn't seem to buy much used at all. If it makes her happy, go for it!

Her Love of Social Media

Growing up, internet access was limited in the Duggar home, but Jinger seems to love all things Instagram. She and Jeremy have even been spotted on TikTok. This is something that definitely would have been off-limits in her home if it had existed when she was a teen.

She Watches TV

Jinger has been open about watching TV — including Christmas movies when the season comes around. In the past, she's mentioned that she likes watching The Great British Bake-Off, Madam Secretary, and The English Game. Maybe her LA friends suggested these shows to her?

She Loves Traveling

We've seen the Duggars travel on their TLC shows before, but not the way Jinger and Jeremy do it. They have become regular jet-setters, even with the kids in tow. And they don't seem to be slowing down anytime soon, no matter how busy they get.

They've Got Friends Outside the Family

The Duggars certainly had friends they weren't related to, but they've mostly kept their circle exclusive to those they go to church with and those who share their beliefs, like the Bateses. As far as we can tell, though, Jinger and Jeremy both have a lot of friends outside of the family from all over the country, exposing them to different things.
