What to Know
Although Jinger Duggar is still in contact with her family, spends time with her parents and siblings, and still uses some fundamentalist Christian vernacular, she has sprinkled breadcrumbs here and there, sharing reflective thoughts on her upbringing. It’s all thanks to her podcast, which first featured her husband Jeremy Vuolo, but was rebranded as Call Your Sister with younger sister Joy-Anna Duggar as her co-host.
In a clip from an episode shared on TikTok, Jinger appears to actually question the idea of having as many children as possible. Her mother, Michelle Duggar, pushed that practice hard as a mother of 19 during the family’s 19 Kids and Counting days. And eldest son Josh Duggar and his wife, Anna Duggar, had seven children before he was incarcerated in federal prison. But for Jinger, the idea of having kids one after another for as long as her uterus will allow just isn’t as important to her as some might have thought it once was.

In the Duggar family, there are rules against birth control, and most of the adult children have spoken about starting families soon after they were married. While not everyone has had a child each year since they were wed, they have all started families of their own quickly after they got married and moved out of the Duggar family home.
For Jinger and her husband Jeremy, though, having three kids with various age gaps, instead of slightly more than a year in between, works best for them.
“I think I was so afraid that I just would be in a place where it was impossible for me to never not be pregnant,” Jinger says in the clip. “I saw that and I was like, OK, as soon as you get married, you’re just gonna have kids until you hit menopause. Just what you do. So anyhow, realizing that, OK, wait, children are a blessing from the Lord, but just because they’re a blessing doesn’t mean you have to have as many as possible, then that was actually a different perspective for me. Yeah.”
She also admitted that she was able to have “more joy going into” motherhood because she could appreciate that each of her children is a blessing. She also almost threw some shade at Michelle and Jim Bob. Growing up, Jinger and her sisters were assigned “buddies” in the form of younger siblings to help raise them. And, it seems, Jinger prefers being able to give each of her kids the attention they need from her as the parent.
“I don’t wanna do anything out of, like, just convenience factor, but I also wanna be present and be able to be involved in my kids’ lives,” she explained. “In a deep way where every single kid feels taken care of and special and all the things.”
In the comments under the TikTok with the podcast clip, someone wrote, “She is definitely just tiptoeing around what she actually wants to say. To say that they were for sure neglected.”
That might be a little bit of a leap, but Jinger does seem to have developed her own ideas about parenting and the number of children that she and Jeremy are best suited for.
She also admitted that it is “unhealthy” to have kids raising their siblings.
Jinger also touched on the buddy system and her childhood in an interview on the podcast The Unplanned Podcast with Matt & Abby. During the interview, Jinger admitted there is an “imbalance of kids raising kids.” She said kids can help their parents and learn responsibility. But now, it seems, she sees that they don’t need to do that in “the motherly aspect.”
In 19 Kids and Counting, producers highlighted how the older Duggar daughters helped younger siblings with schoolwork and chores, and how they were assigned specific “jurisdictions” in the house, including laundry and meal prep. It sounds like, even though Jinger is close to her family, she has chosen to do things a lot differently with her own children.
Jinger Duggar and her husband are happy with three kids.
Often, when Jinger shares Q&A sessions on Instagram, people ask about plans to have more children than the three she and Jeremy have. In early 2026, per Parade, Jinger answered the question yet again in a since-expired Instagram Story.
“We don’t have any plans to have any more kiddos at this point,” she said at the time. “We are so content with the three that we have.” She also admitted that, while she and Jeremy considered having five or six kids at one point, she feels “so content with just those three.”
