As Taylor Swift plans to walk down the aisle to Travis Kelce this summer, her ex is moving on, too. Over the weekend, Joe Alwyn — who dated Taylor for more than six years before they broke up in 2023 — was spotted out with Love Story star Sarah Pidgeon in New York City. It looks like these two are dating, which would make her Joe’s first (public) girlfriend since Taylor, and people have a lot of feelings about this coupling.

The new couple can see walking with their arms around each other in photos published by People, who reported that Sarah and Joe had an NYC date night.
Gossip blog DeuxMoi has also reported that they’ve been spending time together and were spotted out together in Brooklyn more than once over the past week. A witness claims they spent three hours eating dinner at a restaurant called Roman’s, and
Fans are loving this relationship.
On X, people are sharing just how pleasantly surprised they are about this coupling — not just because they’re glad to see Joe dating again more than three years after his last high profile relationship came to an end, but because they think that he and Sarah make a good match.
“It’s lovely to see Joe out, having fun & embracing this new chapter. Sarah is absolutely gorgeous & the two seem very comfortable together,” one fan wrote.
“Only Joe Alwyn was capable of winning over Sarah Pidgeon. I mean, she’s the spitting image of Carolyn Bessette. I’m convinced he had a crush on her ever since he saw her in Love Story, just like the rest of us,” another fan added.
The Swifties aren’t exactly running out to celebrate, though.
While Taylor hasn’t shared a lot of details about her split with Joe, she has hinted that she didn’t feel free to be herself during that relationship and wishes she could get that time back, which means he isn’t exactly a beloved ex among her fans. On People‘s Instagram post about Sarah and Joe’s budding relationship, that fact was never more true.
“Now he can be seen in public? And right before Tay’s wedding, it’s too obvious,” one person wrote, alluding to the rumors that Joe never wanted to be spotted out and about with Taylor because of her fame.
Another commenter wrote, “So he doesn’t run into cars and hide anymore???”
Joe and Sarah seem happy, so maybe they’ll go the distance. But since it seems like Sarah’s career is just about to take off after Love Story, hopefully he won’t be intimidated by her success, too.
