Social media users listed other sexy men who seemed deserving of the title.
Some people on social media couldn’t fully get behind the idea that John Krasinski is the sexiest man alive, perhaps because they could think of other men who they perceive as sexier. A lot of people on X (formerly Twitter) pointed to actors Pedro Pascal and Glen Powell as obvious choices.
“PEDRO PASCAL LOST TO JOHN KRASINSKI?!” one person wrote in disbelief.
“Dear @people magazine, are you outta your freaking minds?” another person wrote on X. “John Krasinski over Glen Powell, Pedro Pascal, Hugh Jackman, Sebastian Stan, Ryan Gosling and THE LIST GOES ON!”
To some, John is attractive, but maybe not sexy.
One X user was admittedly “not expecting” John to win Sexiest Man Alive, but they were “here for it for sure.” At the same time, while some people admitted that John is attractive, they still don’t think he’s the sexiest man alive.
“John krasinski is an objectively attractive man, but he is decidedly NOT sexy,” one person wrote.

The sexiest thing about him is actually his wife, one person suggested.
John is married to actress Emily Blunt. According to one social media user, this is the sexiest thing about him.
“The only sexy thing about john krasinski is that he is married to emily blunt,” the commenter wrote.
Is it a sign of the times?
Some people considered the current cultural context in which John was deemed Sexiest Man Alive.
One X user thinks John’s win is a sign of the times. “We’re definitively in an era where below average/average and ‘meh’ men are considered elite,” they wrote. “I don’t get it. Some people are aesthetically appealing and some just aren’t. Let’s go back to calling things like they’re seen.”
One person didn’t see this cultural shift as a bad thing. Instead, maybe our societal understanding of what is “sexy” has changed — and maybe there’s still some work to do. “Sexy is so much more than just physical attributes,” they wrote on X. “Just because he doesn’t look like Glen Powell with his shirt off? The man is sexy af and I will die on this hill.”
Others pointed out a different possible issue. “All these fine ass black actors & musicians and yet again, @people chose an average af looking white actor for this year’s #SexiestManAlive?” one person pointed out. “I have nothing against John Krasinski but it’s called ‘Sexiest Man Alive’. Others jumped to his defense.
While some people were definitely critical of the choice, others celebrated John’s win.

One fan who thought John was deserving of the title told other people to be less critical of him. “Leave John Krasinski alone!!!!” they wrote. “Emily Blunt and I think he’s hot okay?”
Though some people shared memes poking fun at John being named Sexiest Man Alive this year, others shared photos of John to prove that he is sexy.
