John Stamos and Lori Loughlin have remained friends long after they first played Uncle Jesse and Aunt Becky on Full House, and now, the actor is standing by his former TV wife’s side as she goes through a very real separation. During a podcast interview this week, John slammed Lori’s ex, Mossimo Giannulli, calling him a “terrible narcissist” and vowing that he will never speak to him again.
News of Lori and Mossimo’s split broke earlier this month.
On October 3, People reported that Lori and Mossimo — who both served time behind bars in the college admissions scandal — have decided to go their separate ways.
“They are living apart and taking a break from their marriage,” Elizabeth Much, Lori’s rep, said in a statement to the outlet. “There are no legal proceedings at this time.”
Now, John is speaking out.
When Lori’s former costar and longtime friend John appeared on the Good Guys podcast on Monday, he said he’s “heartbroken” for what she’s going through.
“She’s just devastated,” he said. “For a girl who has lived her life really well, a good person, a good mother, a good wife — I know all this for a fact — to be thrown into now this separation and, you know, exploding, blowing up her family this way. I just hate to see her go through this. I really do.”
He said he has “really tried to be there” for Lori through the separation.
John went onto say that he believes that “all the negativity or hard hardships” in her life can be linked to her estranged husband, so it sounds like he thinks that as difficult as it is, the marriage coming to an end is truly for the best.
“Whatever he did to her, it busted her up to the core,” he said. “She put up with a lot over the years of this guy. And again, I’m not going to get into the relationship. It’s not my business. I mean, I know a lot, and I was by her side through a lot of it. She is an angel, and she always made things better. She cleaned everything up. He’s a very successful dude.”
John said he will never speak to Mossimo again after what Lori has been through.
Though he didn’t get into the specifics, it sounds like whatever went down between Mossimo and Lori was bad enough that John now wants nothing to do with him.
“He’s a terrible narcissist, and I don’t think you ever get out of that unless you’re able to,” he said, adding, “I pray that he realizes that what he had was everything that anyone could ever hope for and that he gets some help. I think this guy needs help.”
