What to Know
As Joseph Duggar‘s case involving molestation charges moves forward, more details have been made available to the public. Now, the witness list for Joseph’s case has been released and, for some longtime Duggar fans or curious followers, there are some familiar names on that list. Which shouldn’t be that much of a shock, given the alleged crime, but it still raised some eyebrows.
Joseph faces charges of lewd and lascivious molestation on a child under 12 and lewd and lascivious contact by a person over the age of 18. He posted a $600,000 bond in Florida and was able to fly home to Arkansas, but his legal troubles are far from over. And, outside of that, the public has been reaming the former reality TV star for the alleged crimes.
Some of Kendra’s family is on the witness list against Joseph Duggar.
The alleged crime took place in 2020 in Panama City Beach, Fla., when Joseph allegedly inappropriately touched a then 9-year-old girl under a blanket multiple times. Now, witnesses have been officially named in the case, and again, it’s not looking pretty for Joseph. According to records obtained by The U.S. Sun, Christina Caldwell and Paul Gene Caldwell were both officially named as witnesses in the case.
For those a little out of the loop, Christina and Paul are Joseph’s wife Kendra Duggar’s parents. It might explain why, in recorded county jail phone calls, Joseph and Kendra spoke about evicting her parents from one of their properties. It also explains why Kendra seems to be on the outs with her parents, who are heavily ingrained in the same fundamentalist Christian religion as the Duggar family. As far as that witness list goes, though, Kendra was not named.
People have slammed Kendra Duggar for staying with Joseph Duggar.

On a Reddit thread about Kendra staying by Joseph’s side during the legal issues he’s facing, users condemned her for seemingly defending her husband, as they share four young children together. Although Joseph hasn’t been convicted as of July 2026, users still slammed Kendra for sticking it out with him despite her own parents being named as witnesses to be deposed in the trial.
“The fact that Kendra is staying keeps getting even sicker,” one user commented on Reddit.
To that, another person responded, “It’s such a mindf–k because it was her parents who raised her in this culture that you never get divorced EVER and it was them who arranged the marriage with the Duggars. And now they seem to be able to draw the line and break free but Kendra is stuck in the ‘stand by your man’ mentality she was raised with.”
Joseph Duggar did admit to the crime.
One thing against Joseph in the case, other than the key witnesses, is that he kind of, sort of admitted to the crime already. Yeah, that’s a big old oopsy on his part, but according to Fox News, that could be used against him in a major way if the preceding judge sees fit. Joseph reportedly admitted to inappropriate touching to the victim’s father and he admitted to it on a phone call heard by law enforcement.
Former federal prosecutor Neama Rahmani spoke with Fox News and shared just how damning those instances could be for Joseph’s case.
“It is evidence of intent, the victim, and the timing of the alleged abuse,” Rahmani said. “His lawyers will try to argue that it is too vague and attenuated and try to get it excluded on that basis. I don’t think they will be successful because the statement was made in the context of Duggar also admitting to inappropriate touching under a blanket. A judge is unlikely to separate the two statements, and this is why pretext calls like this can be so powerful if they lead to incriminating evidence.”
For now, though, Joseph’s case is ongoing and he has not been convicted of crimes related to the charges.
