There’s no question that Josh Duggar is where he deserves to be. Although he’s now in jail for the next 12 years after being found guilty of receiving and possessing child sexual abuse material, critics of the family have long noticed his lack of character.
After watching him through 10 seasons of 19 Kids and Counting, particularly after he wed his wife, Anna Duggar, critics say there were a lot of moments where he showed his character.
There were a lot of red flags that Josh doesn’t respect women — including his wife.
In a popular Reddit community, critics of the Duggar family have compiled a list of all the times Josh was a “garbage husband” to Anna during the family reality TV show. And it’s a lot — with nearly 250 comments, there were a lot of instances to pull from and memorable moments to recall.
In a thread titled “All of the known times Josh the Pest was a garbage husband to Anna on the show,” one critic asked the community to join in.
“Let’s be real their entire marriage is a dumpster fire but the sub frequently brings up the various times [Josh] was a piece of walking trash to Anna on the original 19 Kids show,” the Redditor wrote.
'I'll start by listing off the 2 most infamous times,' the person wrote.
The two instances the Reddit user who began the thread recalled included the following: “Anna being forced to carry her own luggage to the motel after their wedding, with the creepy picture pillow in tow,” and the time Josh made a comment when Anna was visiting the OBGYN during her first pregnancy calling her the “master of swallowing.”
Although those are absolutely ick to the highest degree, the thread filled with other similar and equally (or more) disgusting moments. Even though we haven’t verified all of these happened, the critics in this popular community know the show quite well.
It didn’t take long for the list to grow.
“His ‘proposal’ (read: announcement to her that he was claiming her),” one person wrote.
“Those horrifying pics taken on the beach in NC on their honeymoon,” someone else recalled. “The look of horror on Anna’s face.”
“Getting Anna to drive across DC to deliver lunch to him in his FRC office,” wrote another person.
“Taking a nap while she pushed out [her second child] on the toilet,” someone else recalled.
Another Redditor added to that moment, sharing, “And the audacity to verbalize how exhausted he was as his wife was pushing out his child on the toilet. He was probably up all night watching p-rn. He's so gross.”
There was another moment when Anna was pregnant that viewers caught too.
“Making her crawl under the table when pregnant,” someone wrote in the Reddit thread.
“The time when they went on a family trip [to the store] and a very pregnant Anna is hauling kids and strollers and crap out of the car while [Josh] stands around looking annoyed and checking his phone (for WHAT?) and not doing anything to help her with HIS own kids,” was another moment pointed out.
Another pointed out a repeated moment from the show, writing, “every time they both do the interview together his disgusting face shows how much he disrespects her and how ‘beneath’ him she is.”
The list continued, and there were a lot of moments highlighted from the 10 seasons of the show.
“Making her go on a Ferris wheel knowing she was terrified of heights,” someone shared.
“Leaving her on the side of the road when a car broke down. Forcing her to change her sleeping habits. Not letting her stay at the aquarium (probably her first time in one) because he wanted sex,” another person recalled.
“When he called her ‘a working model,’” added someone else. “Really shows what he thought about her and her role as his wife.”
And how even after the news broke that Josh had cheated on Anna and that he was part of the Ashley Madison scandal, Anna was still more worried about Josh than herself. “The moment on Counting On where Anna was talking about the Ashley Madison scandal and how if she said how she truly felt or displayed any emotion about it she would ‘turn a mess into a disaster,’” one critic recalled.
It’s sad reading through the thread because the moments where Josh was way less than kind to Anna are numerous. Hopefully she’s able to find some distance, which some reports are saying has been happening now that he’s in prison.
