It's been a minute since we've gotten an update on Josiah and Lauren Duggar, but this one is a bit troubling. It appears that fans' suspicions that the couple quietly welcomed a second child were spot on — but the name Josiah and Lauren chose is surprisingly connected to Josh Duggar's trial. This is weird, to say the least.
Josiah and Lauren have been MIA from social media for a long time by now.
Josiah and Lauren were never the most active Duggar couple on social media, but they did post relatively regularly until the end of 2020, when they went MIA from public life completely. Since then, they've slowly removed every single post from their Instagram account, and what they've been up to over the past two years has been a mystery.
A Christmas video has revealed a surprising new update.
James Duggar took to YouTube to share a video of his family's Christmas celebrations, which included a peek under the tree before the official celebrations began.
In the video, we can see the gifts separated by family — and we can also see that Josiah and Lauren's pile didn't just include them and their first daughter, Bella.
They now have a second daughter named Daisy.
Posting a zoomed-in screenshot from the video, frequent Duggar critic Katie Joy of Without a Crystal Ball shared that the tape with names next to Josiah and Lauren's gifts included a new baby: Daisy.
"The name Daisy is a very interesting and disturbing choice given that Josh Duggar’s crimes included downloading the most horrific CSAM out there Daisy’s Destruction," Katie Joy pointed out in her post. "Of all the names that could have been chosen the couple picked Daisy for their baby girl."
The baby was named after Josh's trial took place.
Josh's trial took place in December 2021, at which point he was convicted on both charges involving child sexual assault material, which included the video that Katie Joy mentioned.
According to the blogger, Daisy was born in the last year, which means Josiah and Lauren would have known the details of Josh's crimes before naming their daughter.
Some people don't think the name was intentional, though.
"My guess is they have no idea what the videos were that he looked up. They weren’t at the trial and as much as they have their heads buried in the sand, I don’t think they have any idea," one person commented on Katie Joy's post.
Given how private Josiah and Lauren are these days, we'll likely never know the reason they chose the name Daisy for their newest daughter. But we do have to admit that it's an interesting choice, given everything that's happened in their family over the last couple of years.
