Not all beauty risks we take pay off, and Joy-Anna Duggar is learning that lesson the hard way. After she took the leap in using box dye to color her hair for the first time ever, Joy is taking it all back. And just like she shared the dye session (and the tears that followed when she saw the results), she’s showing us how she managed to fix her mistake — with a little help from the professionals this time.

Joy shared an update on her hair, post-dye.
In a video she shared on Instagram on Tuesday, Joy shared a better look at the dark auburn locks that caused her to break down in tears in her previous post. “The roots are bright red & the ends are BLACK with an undertone of purple!” she wrote in the video.

We have to hand it to her, though — even though she was crying at the results, she was also laughing with her friend about it. In times like these, a sense of humor is what you need most.
Joy only lasted two days before heading to the salon to fix her hair.
In the next clip, we see Joy in the car, driving to the salon, admitting that even after washing her hair several more times to try to see if more of the color would rinse out, she’d done all she was able to do from home. It was time to call in the big guns!
“I’m really hoping we can go to chocolatey brown or maybe … I was wanting a little tint of red,” she said.
Her next (and final) update came on Wednesday.
Fortunately, Joy did end up finding success at the salon. In her caption, she wrote, “I went to the salon & was able to use hair stripper to pull out the dark & then we added some chocolate brown dye to the roots & highlights and it turned out so BEAUTIFUL! And it still has the auburn tint!”
It’s so good to see that she’s excited and happy with the end result after the emotional roller coaster this mini makeover sent her on.
Her new hair color is a big change.
Judging from the video and the photos she’s shared so far, however, it looks gorgeous on her — even if it is much darker than what she’s used to. It was fixed right on time for her 27th birthday celebrations, which she must have been pretty relieved about.

Her fans are loving Joy's new look.
On her final hair update post on Instagram, her followers couldn’t help but gush over the new look.
“Your stylist worked her magic!! You look beautiful, the rich color really makes your eyes pop!” one person wrote.
Another commented, “I didn’t think the box looked bad, but the salon differently looks better.”
