Joy-Anna Duggar is coming under fire from critics who say her most recent YouTube video is an intentional disregard for her sister Jinger Duggar.
It's no secret that things have been tense in the Duggar family over the past while. There have been several family issues from Jill and Derick Dillard distancing themselves from Jim Bob and Michelle, Josh Duggar's court case and conviction, and, most recently, Jinger Duggar's book, which details her experience growing up with their strict religion.
Given all that, fans were curious on how things would play out — would Jinger distance herself further?
Would her siblings and her still have a good relationship? What about their parents? With all those questions floating around, fans were thrilled to see Jinger had recently visited Joy-Anna.
A few weeks ago, Joy-Anna visited Jinger at her home in Los Angeles, and more recently, Jinger made the trek back to Arkansas. In a video Joy-Anna posted to her YouTube channel, Jinger and her husband, Jeremy Vuolo, hang out with her extended family for the weekend.
Joy-Anna captured several snippets from Jinger's visit in a vlog she posted to YouTube.
In a new video titled, SPECIAL FAMILY TIME! (girl time!), Joy-Anna documented the fun, which even included an appearance from mama Michelle Duggar and a stop at Jessa Duggar's house.
A bunch of the younger Duggar kids were there too, playing with their nieces and nephews and doing crafts with Michelle. And watching the video, it looks like they all had a wonderful weekend together.
Fans were thrilled to see Jinger being embraced by the family, given all that's come out during her book tour following the release of her tell-all.
"I'm so happy that Jinger and Jeremy were able to visit with their girls and you all got to spend time with the family!" one person wrote in the comment section of the YouTube video.
"Something about seeing all of the kids now grown and together in their own lives is so nice!" another commenter shared.
"It's so great to see the family spend time with Jinger and Jeremy and their children!" wrote someone else.
"I had tears… seeing Michelle hugging Jinger and the big turn out to see her… lots of love," added another person.
"Awe video catching up with family good seeing Josiah, John David ,Abby, Janna, Mother Duggar, Jinger, Jeremy and the rest of your family Joy," shared another fan. "This was a good one."
But critics noticed a few things with the vlog that they felt were shady toward Jinger.
According to the popular Reddit community DuggarSnark, the video Joy-Anna posted broke some serious boundaries Jinger and Jeremy have when it comes to their kids — it exposed their faces in the video.
Jinger and Jeremy are parents to two young girls, Evangeline and Felicity, and as parents they've chosen to keep their kids off social media.
It hit the Reddit community wrong that Joy-Anna didn't blur the girls' faces.
"In Joy's latest YouTube video, she 'accidentally' leaked the faces of both of Jinger's daughters," the Reddit post reads.
"I won't repost the kids' faces but at one point Joy shows one of Jinger's girls then says "oh, can't have her face in there" then pans away from the kid. It's like she had a moment of self awareness but then didn't edit the video. If I was Jinger, I'd be p—ed. Enforcing boundaries in this family seems like a nightmare."
Commenters agreed and expressed how disappointed they were in Joy-Anna.
"I almost get the vibe that some of them intentionally leave 'slips' like that in their videos for the views, which is honestly disgusting," someone wrote in the Reddit thread. "If I was visiting my sister who did not allow her kids to be recorded, then I wouldn't even have my phone out recording around them."
"I mean we all know Joy isn't the brightest bulb but this is a pretty blatant disregard of her sister's very clear boundaries," shared another commenter.
"The fact she acknowledged it and then chose NOT to edit the video and post it anyway speaks volumes. I would be livid," noted another critic.
"Yep there's a whole clip of the younger daughter and two brief glimpses of Felicity. I'm sure Jinger and Jeremy will have her remove the video," another person shared.
"She even says 'oh I'm not meant to show her face' after showing Evangeline," another Redditor commented.
"Passive aggressive because they don't agree and are likely punishing Jinger for going against the family… even though she's literally still in a cult," wrote someone else.
It's hard to know whether it was an intentional move, but hopefully they can all respect each other's boundaries.
