Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively may have reached a settlement in the lawsuit stemming from their movie It Ends With Us, but it sounds like Justin’s wife is holding a grudge. As the couple celebrated 13 years of marriage on July 27, Emily Baldoni posted about the milestone on Instagram, and appeared to be bashing Blake in the process — or at least, that’s what many of her followers seem to think. Yikes!
Emily shared a photo from her 2013 wedding to Justin.
In a post on Instagram, Emily shared a black and white photo taken during the ceremony of her wedding to Justin. The picture shows him lifting Emily up on the ground under their wedding arch while standing in front of their officiant — probably just after they were pronounced husband and wife.
“Marriage: still my favorite lift,” Emily wrote in her caption. “Thirteen, baby!!”
At first glance, it seems like a pretty harmless caption — unless you followed along with Blake and Justin’s feud, of course.
She may have referenced a point of contention between Blake and Justin that came up during their legal battle.
As Page Six pointed out, Blake’s trainer, Don Saladino, claimed in the court documents that Justin asked him how much Blake weighed because of a scene in It Ends With Us where he needed to lift her.
“He said that he was asking about her weight in connection with a scripted lift scene, suggesting that he needed to know Ms. Lively’s weight to determine whether he could perform the lift,” Don said, adding that it felt like a “dishonest” question to ask since Justin had already been training the muscles in his back.
Justin’s alleged comment was just one that was mentioned in the suit as leading Blake to believe that he was mocking her weight.
People have a lot of opinions about Emily’s comment.
If you thought everyone would be quick to call this out as mean girl behavior, think again — mostly, Emily’s followers were too busy praising her sense of humor and dunking on Blake (including bringing up her 2012 plantation wedding to Ryan Reynolds).
“Happy 13th wedding anniversary, marked by respect, mutual support, honesty, without plantation, without promotion of slavery, and without infidelity that breaks marriages,” one person commented, while another added, “I bet you this lift did not hurt his back!”
A few people did come to Blake’s defense, though.
“So Emily agrees with Blake. Her husband didn’t have any back problems and was just body shaming Blake during production, even though he knew Blake had just given birth,” one person wrote (in a comment that has remained unacknowledged by Emily). “Thanks for the confirmation, Emily.”
The lawsuit may have been settled, but it doesn’t sound like the drama will ever come to an end.
