The thing to remember when you look at what may seem like an odd pairing, like the former Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau, and popstar Katy Perry, is that you never know when or with who you’re going to find love. Speaking of which, whether they’re already in love or looking to stumble upon it in the desert, anyone who’s anyone in Hollywood flocks to Coachella Music Festival every April. Who showed up there for the first weekend to catch none other than Justin Bieber and other performers? Justin and Katy, and people have a few things to say about it!

The funny thing about the magic of Coachella is that even the biggest names in the business, even if they’re not part of the festival, head to the desert to listen to some music and have a good time.
One of the many on that list was “Teenage Dream” singer, Katy Perry. After confirming her split from her longtime partner, Orlando Bloom, in 2025, with whom she also shared a daughter, Katy began dating the former Canadian politician, Justin Trudeau, shortly after. The pair took things to a super public level when they showed up at Coachella together.
Katy posted on Instagram what the kids call a photo dump of her romantic music fest weekend with her boyfriend on Sunday, April 12, 2026. There are several videos of Katy jumping up and down, enjoying some of the musical acts, including Justin Bieber.
What’s really caught people’s attention, though, is the shot she posted of her and Justin walking hand in hand through the Coachella crowds. Justin is sporting a super casual backward baseball cap. At the same time, Katy is wearing a quintessential music fest look: shorts, a cute slogan tee, and a backpack, which is always necessary for carrying all your gear on long days.
These two look like a couple of Coachella regulars!
The pair were spotted doing all the typical music festival things, like dancing badly and eating crappy foods.
Also a part of the pop singer’s photo share on Instagram is a shot of her and Justin sitting down outside with a couple of red cups and some festival snacks. He looks like he may be enjoying some noodles.
Katy also included a nauseatingly cute video of her and Justin in the crowd listening to what sounds like Justin Bieber performing on stage, who was a headlining act. Katy’s sporting some glasses as she sings along with Justin Trudeau right behind her gently swaying to the music. He manages a little half smile and snuggles into the back of her head while Katy holds up her phone to get a better shot of them canoodling.
One person in her Instagram comments shared, “As a Canadian, I love this love story so much.” Another follower wrote, “You and Justin are the cutest! I am so happy you are at Coachella together!”
It kind of feels like it was meant to be.
As usual, there are a few haters, but overall, a lot of people are supportive of this pair.
There are always going to be some people who can’t seem to wrap their heads around this seemingly odd pairing.
One person in the Reddit comments shared this sentiment by stating, “Former PM at Coachella is so funny.” Hey — why can’t former political figures enjoy a little bit of music with their significant other in the desert? Is that so wrong? We think not!
Another individual in the Reddit thread couldn’t help but feel their overwhelming curiosity about this couple. She wrote, “I really do appreciate how she’s lowkey here. Just hanging out with her boyfriend. But I’ve got so many questions!!!” Yeah, we all do, girl.
Someone couldn’t help but point out how this love fest has really helped this couple regain their youthful looks. “Honestly, when you found love at that age, it really makes you feel young again,” they wrote.
