Reports previously suggested that Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau’s alleged romance might have fizzled out, but that doesn’t appear to be the case. Photos published on October 12 show 40-year-old Katy and 53-year-old Justin kissing on a yacht, obviously exacerbating the romance rumors that have been circulating since July. And according to a new report, Justin has been “pursuing” Katy ever since they were first spotted together.
In case you missed it, when Katy stopped in Montréal, Canada on her Lifetimes Tour in July, she also met up with the country’s former prime minister. They were spotted going for a walk together and enjoying dinner at Le Violon. A couple of days later, Justin attended Katy’s concert.
Apparently, he’s been into her for months now.
A source recently told People that Justin has “been pursuing her since” their Montréal outing and even traveled to California to see the pop star. The source added that Katy initially “wasn’t looking to date,” but the two of them continued to get to know each other anyway. And according to the insider, they’ve realized that they “have an easy connection,” especially because “they have many shared interests and a lot of talk about.”
Katy seemed to allude to the romance during a recent performance.
Though Justin and Katy haven’t publicly commented on their alleged romance, concertgoers at Katy’s recent London show noticed that she seemed to be talking about Justin at one point during the show. Per the Daily Mail, someone proposed to Katy during the performance, and she turned him down. The rejection didn’t seem personal though. Instead, it had more to do with timing.
“I wish you’d asked me 48 hours ago,” she said. “London, England, you’re like this on a Monday night after a whole day at work and a whole day at school? No wonder I fall for Englishmen all the time… but not anymore.”
Previously, an insider said Katy and Justin shared an ‘instant connection.’

Back in September, as the romance rumors continued, some sources suggested the alleged romance wouldn’t last and was merely “casual.” Other insiders agreed that the romance wasn’t serious at that point, but chalked it up to Katy’s busy schedule. According to those insiders, Katy and Justin were still getting to know each other and remained interested.
A report from People suggested that Justin was thrown off by all the romance rumors and attention. Though he was reportedly surprised by how much people cared about their alleged romance, the source claimed that “Justin and Katy are for sure attracted to each other on several levels.”
