That’s exactly what Justin Trudeau‘s kids are going through, and in a new video, his 18-year-old son, Xavier Trudeau, shared what he really thinks about his dad’s girlfriend and their unexpected relationship.
Xavier shared his thoughts on Instagram.
While recording a video with a content creator named G.Hobs about a new collaboration between Drake and McDonald’s, Xavier confirmed that he has met Katy before, and it sounds like they really hit it off. In fact, he even described her as “cool” and “nice” — high praise from a teenager!
“We talked for hours, talking about my music,” he said. “She gave me advice and next steps for me and stuff.”
Katy and Justin are both parents.
Along with Xavier, Justin is also a dad to son Hadrien and daughter Ella-Grace. He shares all three of his children with ex-wife Sophie Grégoire Trudeau, who he split from in 2023.
Meanwhile, Katy is a mom to 5-year-old daughter Daisy Dove, who she shares with her former fiancé, Orlando Bloom. The two went their separate ways in the summer of 2025, not long before she was first linked to Justin.
Being single parents is something that Katy and Justin have in common, so maybe that was one of the things that brought them together in the first place.
It really seems like their relationship is getting serious fast.
Not only have they met each other’s kids — Katy’s daughter, Daisy, even joined her and Justin on a trip to Montecito earlier this month — but there have also been rumors that they’re planning to have a baby of their own.
“Katy’s ready to go all in right now with him. They’re even talking about having a child together,” a source told the outlet Heat World last month. “Justin is very clear that he wants to build a life with her and there’s no one he’d rather be with. When Katy first started seeing Justin, everyone assumed it would just be rebound fling, but it’s much more than that. She says it feels like destiny that they met.”
If that really is the way things go, it sounds like they’ll at least have Xavier’s support for sure.
