Kai Trump Says She Stays Out of Politics & No One Thinks That’s Really Possible

With a name like Trump, you just can’t escape politics or “stay out” of political talk altogether. But tell that to Donald Trump’s granddaughter, Kai Trump, who attended the ESPY Awards and spoke about politics on the red carpet. Or, rather, she spoke about not speaking on politics when a red carpet reporter spoke to her in a clip that was shared on X (formerly Twitter).

Kai also has Secret Service agents at her disposal and she has made multiple YouTube videos depicting life at the White House with her own personal tours of the property. Oh yeah, and she has used the White House grounds as the backdrop for photos for her clothing brand. So, try as she might to stay out of politics, it’s in the literal background of most of what she does.

Kai Trump tries to steer clear of politics.

In the clip on X, Kai tells a red carpet reporter that she tries to stay out of politics “completely.” Instead, she prefers to show her life with her fans and social media followers without getting into politics. I mean, when she dotes on her grandpa, the polarizing president serving his second term in office, it’s hard to totally stay out of politics, to be totally fair.

“Honestly, I kind of stay out of politics completely, it’s just not my thing,” Kai says. “I just like showing my life and showing how, you know, you can still be an athlete, you can still do a ton of other things, and enjoy a ton of other things, so I just kind of like showing people that everything’s possible.”

That sounds good on paper, but in practice? Yeah, not so much. Users on X replied to the post and the video to share all the ways they don’t think Kai can possibly stay out of politics, given who her father is and, really, the people in her family as a whole.

“She can stay out of politics because some people stay in for her,” one X user commented.

Another wrote that Kai wants to inspire other golfers, but they aren’t sure how. They commented, “By being the worst golfer in every tournament that allows her to pretend to be competitive enough to play?”

Also, someone added, “If you say, ‘I stay out of politics it’s not my thing.’ I immediately think you’re an idiot and full of s–t and privileged enough to not have to bother with being socially aware.”

Kai has shared videos of herself in the White House.

Try as she might to stay out of politics, you can’t get more political than giving followers a personal tour of the White House. Kai has done that plenty in her YouTube videos on her vlog, even right before the 2026 UFC event on the White House lawn. That alone was a moment that continued to divide the country, and there was Kai, promoting it with excitement.

After she shared one of her White House tour videos in June 2026, users on Reddit debated whether or not it’s her fault she was born into generational wealth and doesn’t quite understand the other side of the country that is against her grandfather.

“To be fair to Kai, it’s not even her fault,” one person wrote. “It’s how she was raised and all she knows. 19 years old, 4th generation wealth in a corrupt family and she genuinely has no awareness her grandpa has ruined any chance of her living a normal life after this is all over.”

Someone else countered, “A 19-year-old knows what house is theirs and what house isn’t,” in reference to Kai joking in her video that the White House is her house.

Her name is hard to just ignore.

As long as Kai keeps the last name of Trump, and maybe even if she doesn’t after eventually getting married someday, there’s little chance of anyone forgetting who she is and who she is linked to.

Her dad, Donald Trump Jr., and her uncle, Eric Trump, are both heavily ingrained in Trump’s political inner circle. Kai might have golf aspirations and even plans to be a full-time content creator someday, but she will always, to some, be knee-deep in politics in some way.
