Kailyn Lowry Strongly Claps Back at Critics Who Say She Doesn’t Raise Her Kids

As a mom of seven, Kailyn Lowry receives lots of comments from critics who insist that she “gets help” and isn’t raising her kids all on her own. And while she does not do everything 100 percent on her own and does have support, she’s tired of people “discrediting” all of the work she does as a mom. After all, many parents take their kids to daycare or hire babysitters, but Kailyn gets quite a bit of hate for doing “the same thing.”

Though Kailyn deals with this variation of mom shaming quite often, she is far from the only mother who has been judged for getting outside support. But as many of Kailyn’s followers noted, “it takes a village,” and there’s no shame in asking for help.

Kailyn addressed the critics in a video.

On Sunday, September 7, the 33-year-old Teen Mom alum responded to a comment on TikTok. In the comment, a critic wrote, “I think she has help with the kids.”

Reacting to the comment, Kailyn said, “Y’all love to say that I don’t raise my kids. I have childcare, yes. I have help from 8 to 4, Monday through Friday.” But she went on to explain that having childcare during “traditional working hours” is really not all that unusual.

“A lot of people put their kids in daycare from 9 to 5, a lot of people have babysitters that they pay for,” she continued. “I do the same thing. I do not have a live-in nanny. I do not have a round-the-clock nanny … After 4 o’clock, if I needed a babysitter, I would have to pay for that.”

She told critics to stop ‘discrediting’ her parenting.

Though she doesn’t have a live-in nanny or a rock-the-clock nanny, Kailyn acknowledged that she is “blessed to have in-home childcare.” She knows that “not everyone can afford to have that.” Even still, that doesn’t mean that she’s not a mom to her children.

“With that being said, yes, I do have help, no matter which way you cut it,” she said. “But if you guys could just stop discrediting what I do, that would be fantastic. And I’m going to let this run for one minute, just so I can collect my coin so I can pay for the childcare, thank you so much.”

In the comments, people jumped to her defense.

Other parents chimed in to let Kailyn know that they too need support at times. “Dang I must not raise my son either because I have someone watch him at his home and he goes to a part time preschool 🤣🤣🤣,” one mom commented. Another parent said, “WITH ONE CHILD, I had care from 7:30-4:30. It’s called child care. Working parents need child care! It’s wild people want to say otherwise.”

Many of Kailyn’s followers told her that she doesn’t even need to explain herself. They questioned what critics expected Kailyn to do as a single mom of seven children. “I need help with one kid,” a third parent wrote. “Like … what do people expect of you? lol Tote them all with you to meetings.”

Someone else added, “Yes girl! totally great and normal thing to have childcare!”
