What to Know
It takes a special kind of baker to perfect the sourdough loaf. And, while Karoline Leavitt might be a lot of things, a sourdough baker might not be one of them. While on maternity leave, she reportedly took up baking homemade sourdough bread and, when a video of that venture was shared on TikTok, everyone was in agreement that, uh, you don’t have to try to make sourdough just because you have free time.
Seriously, not everyone needs to take up the hobby that so many millennial people have after learning about the ins and outs of starters and proofing and everything in between from social media. But tell that to Leavitt, who proudly slices into her loaf that everyone is now hardcore trolling. As one user put it on TikTok, “There’s nothing she can do.” Yes, you read that right.
Karoline Leavitt’s sourdough could definitely use some work.

In the video, Leavitt’s bread knife slices through her loaf of sourdough. And, it seems, the idea was to boast about a job well done. But the bread itself is far from well done. In fact, it looks like it is entirely too chewy and, well, raw. You don’t even have to be a sourdough aficionado to see that from the video.
“That bread was not done,” someone commented on the TikTok.
But, another person added, “That’s actually exactly how I think her bread would look.”
“That bread looks underbaked and dense as a hockey puck,” someone else wrote.
Others compared it to the chicken on Leavitt’s plate and wrote that the bread and chicken actually look identical. Ope.
“Did she blame Biden for the bread being under-baked?” A TikTok user questioned in the comments.
The top of her loaf should be a lot darker in color and have more of a crust to it. According to The Pantry Mama, most successful loaves of sourdough bread should have a crispy golden brown crust. It should also have a good amount of medium to large-sized holes inside. It also shouldn’t be heavy or dense to the touch. Leavitt’s, unfortunately, does not meet this criteria.
People criticized her bland cooking.
The rest of the video shared to TikTok shows the rest of Leavitt’s meal with her husband, Nicholas Riccio, and their toddler son. She shows their dinner table out on their patio. Dinner, apparently, consists of a lot of yellows and beige-colored food. There’s the offending sourdough, of course, but also chicken, gravy, carrots, and peas. The latter look like they’re straight from the can, but that’s not even the worst part. For some, the meal looks positively bland and flavorless.
“It looks bland, but other than that, I absolutely hate it,” a commenter said.
Another added, “not a single spice was harmed in the making of this video.” I mean, where is the lie?
“That food looks so unseasoned and dry,” a user also pointed out. I mean, I might be feeling a little parched just from looking at it, so they might be on to something.
She was called out for her lack of seasoning before.

When Leavitt shared her Thanksgiving spread in 2025, users on Reddit tore it apart. From the macaroni and cheese that looks dry and without much cheese at all to the very white turkey chunks, there doesn’t seem to be a lot of seasoning involved. The meal itself is fine for Thanksgiving, but everything just looks so bland that people had a hard time not making fun of literally every side dish.
“Is that just cooked noodles???” One Redditor questioned. “Where is the SAUCE?”
Another wrote, “My teeth feel squeaky just looking at the green beans.”
So really, Leavitt had no business trying the sourdough game.
