Kat Von D’s Husband Not a ‘Believer’ — Now She’s Asking Christian Fans To ‘Pray’ for Him

Kat Von D has been through a lot of changes in recent years, but her husband, Rafael Reyes, hasn't been on the same page with her when it involves religion. Although the famed tattoo artist has jumped into Christianity wholeheartedly, her husband wasn't on board, and after they've faced backlash from the Christian community, Kat is speaking out. In a recent podcast appearance, Kat asked for prayers for her husband during a time when she feels that people have instead chosen to "publicly harass" her family for this part of their story.

Kat has shared her journey online.

Since Kat and her tattoo talents were first introduced to the world on Miami Ink, she's been known for her dark style and love of witchcraft and all things macabre. And even though her gothic style isn't going anywhere, her former interests have — Kat revealed in that she got rid of all of her books on the occult and renounced witchcraft before getting baptized in October 2023.

Kat Von D's husband isn't walking this journey with her, though.

Kat is married to Rafael Reyes, a musician who also goes by the name Leafar Seyer, and together they share 5-year-old son Leafar Von Drachenberg Reyes. Even though Kat has committed to showing up at church and studying the Bible, she hasn't tried to hide the fact that her husband isn't — something that some of her fans and fellow Christians haven't always taken well.

Her husband is supportive, but not 'on board.'

During an appearance on Allie Beth Stuckey's Relatable podcast, Kat said that although Rafael will go to church services with her at the Baptist church she attends in Indiana, he isn't a believer himself.

"We go to church together every Sunday; he always supports me, and we pray together. But there's part of him that's still questioning, and after getting so much grief from people that spilled over into my husband. I remember the next morning, he was like, 'Babe, I don't want to be a part of that,'" she said.

She said it makes her 'emotional' that they're not together in this.

At the same time, it sounds like comments from her fellow Christians about the situation are getting to her, too, because her husband's music is controversial in their religious community.

"If these people genuinely cared about me or my husband, instead of picking us apart or picking him apart, I would hope that you would just pray for us instead," she said. "It's already hard enough in real life to live through a lot of this stuff, then to just publicly harass or humiliate."

She's hoping that, with time, Rafael will change his mind.

In the meantime, Kat just wants to continue sharing her journey with her husband as much as she can.

"I'm trying not to get emotional because I've been working for years trying to lead by example and share my own stepping stones with him, so hopefully, one day, he can come to me and say, 'Hey, guess what? I've given my heart to Jesus.' That hasn't happened yet," she said.
