Kate Gosselin has been pretty quiet lately. Though the former Jon & Kate Plus 8 star has generally stayed out of the spotlight in recent years, she made headlines last year when one of her sextuplets, Collin Gosselin, accused her of abuse. Over the weekend, she posted on social media for the first time in a year. Collin and Hannah Gosselin were noticeably absent.
Kate and Jon Gosselin’s sextuplets just turned 21.
Before getting divorced, the former couple welcomed eight children together. Their sextuplets — Alexis, Hannah, Aaden, Collin, Leah, and Joel — celebrated their 21st birthdays on May 10, 2025. Kate took to Instagram to celebrate the special occasion.
“And just like that, they turned 21! Happy Birthday to my 6! #GosselinSextuplets,” she captioned her post.
But Collin and Hannah weren’t pictured.
Kate’s post acknowledged all six of her sextuplets — but the celebration didn’t include Collin or Hannah. The mom of eight shared several photos of Alexis, Aaden, Leah, and Joel. At the end of the carousel, she included a photo of their birthday cake. Jon Gosselin is estranged from most of his children, but Collin and Hannah chose to live with him rather than with Kate. As of 2024, Hannah still talked to her mom.
Critics were not impressed by Kate’s post.
Even though Kate technically mentioned her six 21-year-old kids in her recent post, the fact that Hannah and Collin were not included in any photos rubbed some people the wrong way.
“Wow I guess the other 2 aren’t yours anymore? SMH,” one critic commented on Kate’s post.
A second wrote: “How unkind to your other two sextuplets for you to post this. Don’t do this to them. They don’t deserve it.”
“Almost like you’re missing a couple,” a third person added.
A fourth critic simply wrote, “How dare you post this.”
Hannah seemingly celebrated her birthday with her dad.
Jon and his fiancée Stephanie Lebo enjoyed sipping cocktails with Hannah as they celebrated her birthday over the weekend. He shared a boomerang of their espresso martinis at Fig & Barrel, tagging Hannah and Stephanie in the Instagram Stories post, per People. Jon also added a “Happy Birthday” graphic over the boomerang.
Prior to Kate’s ‘Happy Birthday’ post, she hadn’t posted anything in a year.
Earlier this year, it was reported that Kate had renewed her nursing license. Though Kate seems to have made a conscious effort to stay out of the spotlight, some sources have alleged that she might be feeling a bit lonely. Prior to her recent post, she hadn’t shared anything on social media since May 12, 2024 — when she celebrated her sextuplets’ 20th birthdays.
“No more teenagers in this house!” Kate wrote at the time. “Happy 20th birthday, my forever babies! I love you! Who feels old? I know I do!” Collin and Hannah were not included in that post either.
