A potentially awkward situation between Princess Kate and a young fan could've turned to disaster if not for the quick thinking of the mother of three. While in Wales, 1-year-old Daniel Williams became infatuated with Kate's handbag, snagging the pricey accessory from the princess and adorably refusing to give it back.

The funny interaction happened during a Friday event.

Kate was stopping to talk to those gathered during the Aberfan leg of her and Prince William's trip this week when she met a young royal watcher named Daniel Williams.
The interaction was caught by ITV Wales and shared on Twitter, where it quickly went viral after the little boy got a grip on the bag and refused to let go.
Kate's quick thinking averted a tantrum.
As a seasoned mom, Kate knows that sometimes it's better to move along than to try and take something from tiny hands that don't want to let go, so she allowed Daniel to hang onto her crocodile print Mulberry purse while she moved on to say hello to other people gathered nearby.
"I'll come back for it," she joked as she walked away.
Daniel's mom gushed over Kate's mom-savvy move.

The mom was amazed by how cool Kate was about leaving her $845 bag in the hands of a toddler. "I am just speechless," Daniel's mom, Lucy, confessed to ITV, saying she "won't forget" the kindness Kate showed her family.
"I think she sympathized with how hard it is with children," Lucy continued. "She said, 'He can have it to play with, I'll come back for it!' like it was any other person in the street."

Kate and William were in town for business.
Although the exchange with the handbag was a charming one, the royals were there for more solemn purposes. Kate and William were in town visiting the memorial erected to honor victims of a 1966 landslide that took the lives of 144 people in the small village of Aberfan.
All of this comes one week before King Charles' coronation.
Spirits are likely high right now among the royals thanks to the exciting event scheduled for May 6. We have a hunch all the senior royals are in good moods as they prepare to officially crown the king.
We're sure we're going to see a lot more of the royals between now and then as they get ready for the historic occasion. Hopefully Kate has plenty more handbags on standby — we doubt she's met her last curious toddler with such a busy week still ahead.
