Kate Middleton has been known to go through a few hair transformations over the years, from adding highlights to getting bangs and changing up the length of her famous locks. But after Kate was spotted going to church on Sunday with noticeably lighter hair, it looks like she might have changed things up again — this time opting for what might be the lightest color we’ve seen on her yet.
As People and multiple other outlets reported, Kate was photographed driving to church (with husband Prince William in the passenger seat and kids George, Charlotte, and Louis sitting in the back) near the royal holiday home at Balmoral in Scotland, where the family has been enjoying the end of their summer before the kids go back to school.
While the only evidence of Kate’s new hair are the photos that were taken of her behind the wheel, it’s easy to tell that her hair is definitely several shades lighter (and extra bouncy — look at that shine and those curls!).
It seems like their outing to the Crathie Kirk church was one that the whole family was taking part in, because People reported that the Waleses were joined by other royals including King Charles, Queen Camilla, and Princess Anne.
Although Kate has yet to comment on her new hair herself, psychologist Carolyn Mair told Fox News Digital that changing up her hair color may be her way of feeling “brighter and more energetic” as she puts last year’s cancer treatment and the health obstacles she’s overcome behind her.
“Kate might want to make a fresh start by embracing a lighter outlook on life,” Mair said, later adding, “She may be reclaiming agency and visibility, and leaving her illness behind.”
Considering that the palace recently confirmed Will and Kate will be leaving their home at Adelaide Cottage later this year in favor of moving to Forest Lodge for a fresh start, her insight might not be too far off. It sounds like she’s all about new beginnings right now, so why wouldn’t that include her hair?
