Kate Middleton Goes Back to Brunette After Her Blonde Hair Draws Criticism

Kate Middleton took a huge hair risk by deciding to go blonde, but apparently, she decided it wasn’t one worth taking. After the Princess of Wales debuted her lighter locks last week in her first public appearance since changing up her hair color, she received a lot of backlash from those who weren’t fans of the look. And either the backlash reached her or she already agreed with everyone who didn’t like her blonde hair, because days later, Kate is already a brunette again.

Kate’s blonde hair made a huge impact — but maybe not in the way she expected.

After Kate stepped out with much lighter and brighter hair while visiting London’s National History Museum last week, people had a lot of opinions, and most of them weren’t positive ones.

The comments got so bad that even Princess Diana‘s former hairdresser, Sam McKnight, said that he was “shocked, horrified, dismayed” by what he was seeing from people on the topic of Kate’s hair.

Now, Kate is brunette again.

When Kate and Prince William attended the women’s Rugby World Cup over the weekend, it seemed like Kate was already sporting darker locks, though it wasn’t fully clear at the time if she’d dyed her hair again. She still appeared to have some highlights, and with her hair pulled back for the match, it was hard to tell if the combination of her hairstyle and the lighting had just made her hair darker.

She showed off her darker hair again on Monday.

It was confirmed that Kate had decided to go brunette again on Monday, when her hair looked undeniably darker (and much closer to her signature color) when she William visited London’s Women’s Institute to honor Queen Elizabeth on the third anniversary of her death.

Her brunette hair seems to have a lot more fans.

On Reddit, royal watchers are raving over Kate’s return to brunette.

“This is a MUCH better hair tone on her. Glad she either ditched the wiglet or got her stylist to dye her hair with more flattering lowlight tone,” one person wrote.

Another commented, “you just know the minute those photos came out of her hair looking terrible, they had the hairstylist on the phone. Was she even in the car leaving the event before they started mixing the caramel toner? They said get that girl a root smudge ASAP.”
