What to Know
In March 2024, Kate Middleton shared her health struggles with the world when she opened up about her cancer diagnosis. But in the months and, eventually, years that followed, she sought treatment. Still, people have taken notice of her change in appearance from even before her official diagnosis. That didn’t stop people from worrying about her, though, even after she shared news of remission.
In new photos released of Kate that were shared on Reddit, she seems thinner than she was before, and users on Reddit took note of that immediately. They used the post to question her health and well-being rather than point to any perceived flaws when it comes to her body. But now, people worry that Kate’s cancer is back.
The photos sparked new concern.

When Kate revealed her cancer diagnosis, there was genuine concern from people across the globe. In public appearances, she appeared smaller, almost frail, but gradually, she seemed to regain some of her former listed and there was hope that her cancer being in remission meant that Kate was recovering nicely. So for her to appear in public in these new photos looking as though she might have lost weight again, it caused concern all over again.
In the photos shared on Reddit, Kate is seen at Wimbledon in July 2026 with Prince George and Princess Charlotte. The user who made the Reddit post wrote, “The last couple of outings, I’ve thought Kate looked a little less underweight. But looking at her here, I realise it’s an illusion. Her waist circumference is seriously smaller than an 11-year-old. It’s really sad that she won’t get the help she needs, and people constantly praise her, when she’s so obviously unwell.”
The general concern now isn’t necessarily if Kate is still struggling with her cancer diagnosis, but that she might be suffering from disordered eating. She hasn’t come out to admit to that or even address the theory, and it hasn’t been confirmed. But her tiny waist and very thin arms have led some to believe that’s what could be happening.
“As a society, we should feel equally okay with calling out the dangers of being underweight as we do for being overweight,” a user commented on the Reddit post. “She, and many others, are extremely unhealthy for being underweight and need medical intervention.”
Another person wrote, “Anorexia also creates the illusion of watching parts of yourself “disappear”. For someone forced to be public, and likely in a marriage where she’s not seen, the disease provides a feeling that becomes addictive when you want to hide but can’t.”
There was talk about Kate Middleton’s hair for a while too.

Kate can’t catch a break as the wife of the person next in line to inherit the throne in the British Royal Family. Sure, that’s the gig she signed up for. It doesn’t make it any easier for her as the years go by, though. So when she stepped out in the summer of 2025 with much lighter hair that people assumed was an ill-fitting wig, it was another opportunity for scrutiny regarding her looks.
In a TikTok video showing a photo of Kate with the short-lived hairstyle, users shared commentary on how high the wig sat on her head, the disproportionate coloring on each side of the wig, and its appearance from the back.
Daily Mail reported at the time that a source close to the family shared, “After a sun-soaked holiday in Greece, Kate returned not only with a refreshed spirit but also with naturally lightened hair. The combination of sea air, sunshine, and saltwater had gently lifted her hair to a softer shade, creating the perfect starting point for her next salon visit.”
She announced her cancer remission in January 2025.
I wanted to take the opportunity to say thank you to The Royal Marsden for looking after me so well during the past year.

My heartfelt thanks goes to all those who have quietly walked alongside William and me as we have navigated everything.

It’s unclear if Kate’s possible weight loss in 2026 has anything to do with her cancer diagnosis from a couple of years previously. In January 2025, Kate posted on X that she was in remission.
She wrote that, at the time, she was looking forward to the year ahead. And, for the most part, many assumed that her health had gradually improved. The new photos showcasing a thinner appearance than before has people worried for her all over again.
