What to Know
You probably remember how, back in 2024, Kate Middleton eventually opened up about her cancer diagnosis after a lot of speculation about her well-being and whereabouts. At the time, she went months without appearing in public, sparking all kinds of conspiracy theories. Well, apparently, Kate cannot catch a break — because recent photos of her have sparked a new wave of conspiracy theories.
Some people online remain convinced that the royal family is trying to hide something from the general public. They’ve pointed to an apparent new scar on Kate’s face to support this theory. Royal fans noticed this scar in 2024, but started talking about it again after seeing images from the Christmas Morning Service at Sandringham Church.
People started speculating about the scar shortly after Kate’s cancer diagnosis.
In January 2024, before Kate spoke publicly about her diagnosis, Spanish journalist Concha Calleja alleged that an insider said Kate “was in great danger” after her abdominal surgery. The journalist spoke of “serious complications” and claimed that Kate had to be put in “an induced coma.” A couple of months later, Kate explained that she “underwent major abdominal surgery” in January 2024 for a condition that she thought was noncancerous. “However, tests after the operation found cancer had been present,” she explained.
However, some theorists still believe that Kate’s condition was more serious than the royal family let on. That same year, TikToker @ministry_of_hacks pointed to a “huge vertical scar over her left eye” that appeared to be “very, very deep” and new, given that it was not obvious in older photos.
So…I ran across this 2024 tiktok by a royal watcher and my heart dropped. I'm looking at Kate's college photo—no scars; then the 2024 Trooping the Color photo. Then it dawned on me… did we miss something in 2024?No. This is a new scar on the temple. It's not there in 2024. 😟 pic.twitter.com/B0rO4Wc0iU

Around the same time, other social media users shared similar theories. While Kate did have a scar on her left temple before her cancer diagnosis, this looked different, many insisted. One person on Reddit wrote, “Kate DID have [another] scar just under her eyebrow before for years. THIS isn’t THAT.” Someone else said, “That scar is bad. Even with a professional makeup job on that day, it can’t be hidden. I wonder what happened?”
Her recent Christmas appearance reignited concerns.
Eagle-eyed social media users noticed the apparent scar again in photos from the royal family’s Christmas celebration in Sandringham. In December 2025, one X user shared some images and videos from the Christmas appearance and wrote, “I’m shocked to see this Sandringham video of the close up of Kate’s scar. We have never seen it from this angle.”
I haven’t commented on Kate Middleton’s scar because I didn’t realized how big & dip a scar it is until this video.

What happened to her? A scar on the face is one of a woman’s deepest fears.

Some people actually didn’t believe any of the conspiracy theories — until they saw the images from Christmas. “I haven’t commented on Kate Middleton’s scar because I didn’t realized how big & dip a scar it is until this video,” another person wrote. “What happened to her?”
However, some royal fans urged people to stop speculating about this. They’ve argued that Kate has had this scar for years at this point. “Yes Catherine has a scar… it was first noticed in 2011. It’s documented in many articles that it’s from her childhood,” one person wrote in the royal family’s defense. In 2011, the Daily Mail reported that Kate had a scar that was “related to a childhood operation.”
