Kate Middleton has been one of the most popular members of the royal family since she and Prince William tied the knot in 2011, and now, it sounds like she’s planning to really cash in on it. According to one royal expert, we’ll be seeing a lot more joint appearances from Will and Kate this year, because as the future of the monarchy, they don’t want to let their popularity go to waste.
Will and Kate are predicted to take on joint engagements ‘whenever possible.’
This week, royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams told GB News that though most of Will and Kate’s recent public appearances have been done separately since the Princess of Wales returned to work, that may not be the case for much longer.
“I’m sure that whenever possible, they will perform joint engagements, because they are the world’s most glamorous royal couple,” he said. “Obviously things have altered, and it will take time, a considerable time.”
As royals, they each have plenty of appeal.
Of course, Kate has always been known as a style icon and became even more beloved once she entered motherhood, and as a couple, the public is enamored by Will and Kate – but obviously, these aren’t their only strengths.
“There’s no doubt that the interest in them as a couple is absolutely vast,” Richard said. “Part of their appeal is the fact that they have taken certain charitable activities, William and the Earthshot Prize and mental health, Catherine with the early years.”
Kate is still healing from cancer treatment, but they’re reportedly looking to the future.
Though Richard noted that Kate still has a “long way to go” when it comes to fully recovering and returning to a more normal workload, she and William are aware that the future of the monarchy depends on them.
“Luckily, now she’s in remission, but you are looking at the future of the monarchy,” he said.
When it comes to popularity, Kate is in the lead.
If taking advantage of the positive opinions that people in the UK have about them as royals is truly what Will and Kate’s next plan is, it seems like a good one. According to a YouGov poll, as of the end of 2024, Kate was ranked the most popular royal, while William was in the third spot, bested only by his wife and the late Queen Elizabeth.
