Kate Middleton and Prince William Are ‘Not Really Interested’ in Fame or Celebrity Life

Kate Middleton and Prince William are reportedly not big fans of some aspects of royal life. In fact, it seems as though, if given the choice, they’d prefer to stay out of the spotlight. During his 60 Minutes Australia interview, former royal aid Jason Knauf said the Prince and Princess of Wales don’t love the “fame and celebrity” that comes with being part of the royal family.

Jason Knauf says Kate and William are ‘not really interested at all’ in fame.

Though Kate and William are dedicated to “doing their jobs,” they probably wouldn’t have chosen to be in the public eye, Knauf explained. “They’re not that interested in the fame and celebrity that comes with it,” he said during the 60 Minutes interview. “In fact, not really interested at all.”

“Neither of the prince or the princess would choose to be public figures,” he added.

Jason Knauf worked for Kate and William from 2015 and 2021. However, he doesn’t take credit for crafting their image or helping them become more popular. He believes that Kate and William achieved this on their own simply by being themselves.

“I don’t think anyone can control the image of anyone in today’s media world, social media world,” Knauf explained. “You just can’t. All you can do is just help people be themselves.”

“With both of these people — with the prince and princess — what you see is what you really get behind the scenes as well,” he continued.

Kate’s cancer journey has also influenced her perspective.

Kate and William have always prioritized their children Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. Battling cancer also forced Kate to reevaluate her priorities, a royal source recently told People.

“Life-threatening illnesses bring a reconsideration of priorities. She and William have always made it clear that family is the most important thing,” the source said. “You can’t go through something like that and come out the other side unchanged. She is a different person now.”

She reportedly wants people to focus on what she does, not what she wears.

While being in the public eye is inevitable for the royal family, Kate reportedly hopes that people will focus more on her charity work, rather than her outfits, a royal source told The Sunday Times. According to the source, the Princess of Wales would prefer to focus on “‘issues, people, and the causes she is spotlighting.”

“There is an absolute feeling that [her public work] is not about what the princess is wearing,” the insider continued. “There will always be an appreciation of what the princess is wearing from some of the public and she gets that. But do we need to be officially always saying what she is wearing? No. The style is there but it’s about the substance.”
