Kate Middleton has long been rumored to be the glue that holds the royal family together, but can anyone blame her if she’s getting a little tired of that role after all of the ups and downs in the monarchy’s personal relationships over the past several years? Kate is reportedly feeling like being known as not only the peacemaker but also the “rockstar” of the family is a “huge burden.”
Right about now, her back must be getting tired of carrying the weight of the royal family…
Kate is basically the star of the show right now.
It’s no secret that King Charles can’t hold a candle to the popularity enjoyed by the previous monarch — his late mother, Queen Elizabeth, is an impossible act to top. Instead, it’s looking like Kate is the undisputed, most well loved royal, as author Catherine Mayer pointed out while speaking with People.
“Kate is the closest they have to a rockstar member these days, and she’s the one everyone wants to see,” she said. “That’s a huge burden for anyone to carry, let alone someone who has had existential battles with her health.”
This was a lot for Kate to manage, especially as she went through cancer treatment before returning to public life in 2024. “Kate not only had to look vibrant and in command of her role, but she knew she would be scrutinized more than ever,” Catherine said.
She’s not the first royal woman to be under this kind of pressure.
You know who else was easily deemed more likable than Charles? Princess Diana, who was so beloved. And if she was around, she would have been the perfect person to talk to her daughter-in-law Kate about the kind of pressure she’s under right now.
“She had turned out to be a bigger star than the system could handle,” Catherine told People. “She had this huge ability to draw crowds. On the balcony or anywhere, she was the focus of attention.”
Kate has reportedly abandoned any hope of being the one to repair everyone’s relationships, though.
Kate is so well loved among the members of her own family that she was often believed to be the only one who could repair things between Prince William and Prince Harry, but years later, she still hasn’t been able to accomplish a truce for the brothers. And according to recent reports, she’s officially given up after Harry said too much about Charles’ cancer diagnosis publicly, insinuating that the king could die soon.
“What interests me most was the relationship between Kate and the two brothers and the fact that she acted as a kind of go-between,” royal expert Christopher Andersen told Fox News Digital in May. “William, Harry and Kate had a very close relationship. [Harry] referred to Kate as the sister he never had. They made each other laugh. It was a very warm and loving relationship for a long time.”
Now, Kate has reportedly washed her hands of the entire thing. She probably should have given up a long time ago — isn’t she dealing with enough in her own life as it is?
