Even after marrying into the royal family, Kate Middleton has been known for remaining close with her family of origin, including parents Mike and Carole Middleton and siblings James and Pippa.
But after Pippa was missing from Kate’s annual Christmas service this year, there’s been quite a bit of speculation that the sisters aren’t on speaking terms right now, leaving some worried about what the state of their relationship looks like now.
Pippa was noticeably absent from the concert.
While the rest of the family was in attendance at the event held at Westminster Abbey every year, Pippa and husband James Matthews were the only ones who appeared to be missing. Instead, Pippa and James were at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, since James is a board member for one of the F1 teams.
This could easily be a work obligation that Pippa decided to join her husband for, but some people are absolutely convinced that Pippa’s absence means something more.
Some people are worried this means there’s a rift between the sisters.
The speculation that Kate and Pippa are feuding began almost immediately among fans who were sharing their thoughts on X.
“Just as a reminder for all, Pippa was diving off a yacht when Kate was having surgery for her precancerous cells. And also did not accompany Kate to a single Wimbledon game this year,” one person wrote. “It’s very clear that something is up with those sisters and I’m not surprised. Kate is a mean girl.”
Another wrote, “If you think about it, Wisteria Pippa landed a rich guy and really doesn’t need Kate anymore (making Pippa a dangerous player because she can’t be bullied into silence). Carole is financially dependent on Kate. Pippa isn’t.”
A royal expert claims that all is well, though.
A royal insider who spoke with Radar Online about the situation has a completely different take, though. According to them, Pippa wasn’t missing because of negative energy with her sister — the scheduling just didn’t work out when she needed to be in two places at once.
“Pippa has been increasingly busy with travel and work commitments. Attending the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix with James was an important engagement for them both, and it simply coincided with the carol concert,” the source said. “Some people wondered why she skipped the carol service, but it wasn’t a snub — it’s just that her life has become more globally focused, and she sometimes can’t be in London for these events.”
Fingers crossed that’s truly all that’s going on here. It would be too sad to imagine the alternative!
